This Master Thesis starts with an analysis of the situation of informal settlements in Latin America, identifying relevant and innovative programs focused on improving life conditions for its inhabitants; these strategies permit to visualize effective paths for diminishing social inequality affecting all cities in the region.
On second hand the investigation develops in an urban proposal for Petare Slums in Caracas, Venezuela. This is composed of a series of strategies whose objective is the healing of urban spaces, and the provision of services while promoting community interaction and organization through participatory design.
