S U M M A RY The eco-system of a compound eye was chosen, because it was thought, that this system would be most suitable for project on sustainable housing. The idea was, that each microscopic unit of an insect eye is an interpretation of one individual house. Consequently, it would be much more efficient to concentrate on light penetration in each of the houses and develop the design considering the sun position and how much light enters the dwelling.
2. DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING
Digital image represents the connection between different stages of project - ecological system, site and analysis of light.
3. Comparative board
Comparative Board represents how chosen ecological system inffluenced the project on sustainable housing.
4. tectonic board
The purpose of Tectonic Board was to show the output of laser-cut model. My model was a representation of the negative space of one of my project’s ‘communities’. I wanted to show, that it is much more efficient to create negative and positive spaces by surrounding the model with cube or rectangle, by this creating a mould, which could be further used.
Ecological system of a compound eye had informed my approach in creating the housing unit. Having tested different shapes of compound eyes and having analysed how the light penetrates them, I came up with most efficient shape of the roof. Each roof would face south, getting the most advantage of the sun.
