SENER VILLAHERMOSA TABASCO

University: Universidad Iberoamericana Professor: Juan Pablo Serrano Individual project Date: January-May 2019, 10th semester Recognition: Honorific mention Location: Villahermosa, Mexico Use: Government offices Built area: 105,000 sqm Population: 80,000 employees Softwares: Archicad, Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop and Cinema 4D

This project consists of the supposed relocation of the national secretary of energy (SENER) from Mexico City to Villahermosa. With the intention to decentralize the political power of the country’s capital and spread economical resources to the other states. The project’s location is behind one of the poorest neighborhoods of the city where there are no offices nor relevant retail, this with the purpose of rehabilitating the area and bringing opportunities to the local community that a project of this size can give. The SENER building consists of four elliptical towers dividing four areas of the secretary of energy, with a circular base where the connections between buildings, public area, roads and parking are located. Low maintenance, sustainability, local materials and incorporation of nature are part of the project’s ideal and concept.

SLICE SHELTER

University: CENTRO (Centro de Diseño y Comunicación) Specialty: Creative Coding for Design Professor: Giancarlo Di Marco Individual project Date: January-May 2020 Softwares: Rhino, Grasshopper, Kangaroo, Heteroptera.

This project aims to use small tree branches that do not have a big commercial use to create surfaces and spaces with the union of the branches slices. In this particular case, the generated surface is focused on creating a conceptual refuge for the individual. The branches are not subjected to any regularization process, therefore the algorithm takes into account the organic shape of the wood slices.

The Competition for the Guadalajara Airport consists of two parts. The first one is an intervention of the existing building to create a better connection between the arrivals and the exit of the airport. The second part involves the construction of a commercial area, hotel and offices in a building attached to the existing one. As well, this new building intended to become the new face of the airport and the company GAP (Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico).

Section 2

NEP Tijuana is a project designed by Estudio Lamela leaving the project in a schematic design phase. Serrano Monjaraz Arquitecos (SMa) was hired by WSP to create the constructive documents based on the original design. This new part of the airport was focused on the CBX (Cross Border Xpress) creating areas and courses where the passengers never need to legally enter Mexico and cross directly from plane to the USA and the other way around. The third level is where people arrive from CBX at the airport where they find two options, the first one is to take a national flight and the second one is an international destination. If they take a plane to another part of Mexico, they will need to pass through migration and check-in their luggage in the same level and then go to the ground floor into security. If the destination is international, they will go directly to documentation and then to security, after this into the second level to a special waiting room that has no contact with the other waiting rooms of the airport. All this without legally entering Mexico.

This Building is clearly divided into two parts, the podium and the tower. On the podium, in addition to having an event and retail area, it is home to the NBT (National Black Theater). The tower is mainly residential apartments and amenity spaces. The main purpose of the design is to incorporate the essence of the neighborhood and NBT, using materiality based on the values and traditions. To achieve it rhythm, proportion and simplicity are one of the main architectural desires of the project. Project Responsibilities: Architectural Designer
