SMA Stella Duce 2 Yogyakarta
Hello! I’m Ancelma Widya, an architecture graduate from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Being exposed to pop culture since childhood has led me to the world of architecture. Throughout my study, I began to realize that architecture is beyond designing beautiful buildings and spaces. Architecture has its own role to increase the quality of community and environment that we live in. During my study period, I have been given the chances to learn from various professional sources. All the experiences I’ve had in college made me learn more about myself as a person. I consider myself as someone who is able to adapt really well with any situations and group of people. I have participated as an active member in many organizations and workshops. Based on those experiences, I believe I have the ability to work together in a team, the will to learn about new things, and also the creativity in solving problems. As an organized person, I believe I’m a responsible and diciplined person especially in time management. Besides architecture, I’m also interested in music, graphic design, and pop culture. Through those three I get to see more perspectives and point of views about life and it helps me developing my ability in finding strategies to solve problems in architecture designs. URBAN CO-LIVING IN JAKARTA
HOUSING Year Type Level Duration
: 2021 : Academic/Individual : Bachelor Final Project : 5 months
Adequate infrastructure and public facilities in urban areas such as Jakarta provide quite a variety of job opportunities. Millennials who are currently entering their productive age have started leaving jobs in the plantation and agriculture sectors because of their interest in jobs that look promising in downtown Jakarta. The increasing population density in Jakarta has led to an increase in the need for housing. This causes land prices and residential rental prices to become increasingly difficult to reach, especially for the lower middle class millennial generation. The issue of affordability of housing in Jakarta is one of the urban problems that has not been resolved by the right solution. Currently there is no policy from the government regulating the price and availability of property so that the property world in Indonesia, especially DKI Jakarta, is dominated by private developers. This has resulted in an increase in housing prices which is not matched by an increase in population income. Planning and designing Urban Co-living is one solution that can answer the problems above. Rental and community-based vertical housing can help residents in economic and social aspects. Through the flexibility of space approach, the design will maximize the effectiveness of time, cost and space so that later it can help reduce the cost of occupancy proposed to residents. In addition, the design concept that will be used also adapts to the characteristics and needs of the millennial generation in Jakarta.

DESIGN RESPONSE
The access to sunlight from west side is blocked by the height of the existing buildings. The site is traversed by west monsoon wind (from west to east).
There will be openings on the west & east side for sunlight & wind access into the building. The use of skylight on west & east side can help to gain more sunlight.

The noise source is coming from the road on the south side. The only way to access the site is from the south side and it will be connected to two main roads which are Dr. Saharjo street (1) & Albarkah street (2).
The sources and functions of existing buildings around the site affect the zoning so that a public zone is obtained in the south and a private zone in the north.

CONCEPT INTEGRATED COLLABORATIVE CO-LIVING
With a land area of 306 m2 and regulations that apply to the site, the co-living to be built only has two floors, so the number of residential units is very limited. To add profit for the building owner, there is an additional function which is a commercial function.

Integrated Collaborative Communal Living is a community-based residential concept that connects the residential needs of the millennial generation in Jakarta with the characteristics of the millennial generation itself. This concept offers community-based housing that integrates space as a place to live, space as a place to socialize, and space as a productive area in one building.
FLEXIBILITY OF SPACE APPROACH
MODULAR SYSTEM
OPEN LAYOUT
MULTIPURPOSE FURNITURE
In order for the design to function properly, it needs an appropriate design approach. The design of buildings located in narrow areas can be maximized by applying a flexibility of space approach. The effectiveness of this approach not only helps in space management, but also helps in the duration and cost of construction.

Participation: Doing research for millenials characteristics and urban housing precedents Discussing and creating an urban house concept for millenials in accordance with their characteristics and urban context Developing space programming and designing the house Drawing DED and layouting the design report
The characteristics of the generation are growing with different characteristics in each generation. Currently, most of the productive age population in Indonesia is the millennial generation, which means that this generation is going through a period of working and needs their own place to live. With the different characteristics of generations, this requires a change in the housing needs for the millennial generation. The right design strategy is needed in residential design in order to meet the needs of the millennial generation according to their characteristics and the context of the urban area as a residential area that is in demand by the current millennial generation.
CONCEPT USER TARGET:
Urban millenials
Based on a survey conducted on 42 respondents who are part of the millennial generation and live in the Greater Jakarta area, the following results were obtained:
HOUSING FOR MILLENIALS CHARACTERISTICS: There is a room with a fixed function and another room that is multifunctional Modern & minimalist residential form with earth tone colors Having a garden as an open area at the front and back of the residence The residence has a washing & drying area There is multifunctional furniture The living room does not have high urgency anymore because they prefer to meet guests outside the house From the residential characteristics of the millennial generation above, several key words emerge that can be elements of the concept of housing. The millennial generation tends to prefer a modern, minimalist form of residence, there are not many patterns so that the residence looks simple and easy to clean. MODERN
MINIMALIST
MULTIFUNCTION
EARTH TONE
The implementation of the multifunctional concept can be applied to public spaces and furniture in residential areas so as to maximize a small area of land. The color tone used is a cool earth tone so that the building looks cooler, especially in areas with hotter weather.

NOOK (a four-act quest for the lonely)
PUBLIC SPACE Year Type Duration Status
: 2021 : Competition/Group : 1 month : Top 20 finalist
Participation : Doing research for mental disorders experienced by the community during the pandemic Discussing and creating concept of a public space to prevent people from loneliness Collage style rendering with Adobe Photoshop Finishing the storyboard
BACKGROUND The pandemic causes the frequency of meetings between people to be limited, and the quality of interaction between people decreases drastically. This is often one of the causes of loneliness that most people feel. However, this feeling of loneliness is actually not only from external causes, but also internal factors: the inability to make peace with oneself, uncomfortable with oneself, not confident, and so on. The feelings that accompany loneliness include anxiety, feelings of isolation, feelings of being overwhelmed, and feeling constrained.
SITE INFORMATION
CONCEPT
TRANSFORMATION
The design of this healing space raises the concept of a 4-round visitor journey towards the healing process from loneliness. These 4 rounds start from 4 feelings that are overshadowed by loneliness: feelings of anxiety, feelings of isolation, feelings of overwhelming, and feelings of restraint. The 4 sequences of space created are also the antithesis of these 4 negative feelings.
The site is located in an empty space in the city of Yogyakarta, which is more precisely at the intersection of Jalan Sagan. The site is located in an area that is easily accessible for the community and campus youth, not too remote, but also not too crowded or noisy.
The 4 sequences were not simply ordered randomly. This visitor journey in the bigger picture is a transition from social space (external factors) to a more private and personal space (internal factors).
Determine the overall circulation path that starts and ends in the north of the site due to easier access for motorized vehicle users.
The site is divided into 4 zones in the order of a 4-act sequence: Self-Awareness, Empathy, Focus, & Freedom in Solitude.
A more detailed landscape and mass arrangement, taking into account the experience of space and transitions between one sequence to the next, solid void play, relationships with the outside landscape, and light play.
Determine the solids and voids of each zone by starting from what atmosphere and ambient reinforce each concept of each sequence. The first zone is more massive, the second zone is open, the third zone is narrow & intimidating, and the fourth zone is more private but more 'relaxed' for each individual.
SEQUENCE 1
self-awareness
This stage encourages visitors to understand themselves, encourage feelings of awareness of themselves, what they feel, by writing down their feelings at that moment on the glass in the middle of the room.
SEQUENCE 2 empathy
Visitors share stories with each other, one-on-one with privacy protected

SEQUENCE 3
focus
The space in the form of a narrow labyrinth brings visitors back to their own state, making them refocus on themselves, while contemplating what might be the inspiration from the previous sharing session.
SEQUENCE 4 freedom in solitude
Visitors reflect on what they got during their previous 'journey'. At this stage, a private space for 1 person who is close to nature is created to trigger a feeling of calm, privacy, and a feeling of 'free' even though you are alone.
