Introduction

conclusion was that Jesus was an introvert, and we should all be more like Him—introverts. In my judgmentalism, I think an introvert probably wrote the book. Anyway, I don’t particularly agree with that conclusion. I don’t think that Jesus was either introvert or extrovert in these terms. I would say He was so fully human, so balanced, it wouldn’t be fair to say that He was one or the other. Jesus is the model for us of choosing private time, often going alone to pray and be with His Father, but He was also certainly often in the midst of multitudes and meeting with His disciples. He is our model of both sides, of balance.

Whether I am an introvert or extrovert, I can be sure that I will have sufficient stamina and resources to do what the Lord has put me on the planet to do. St. Gregory of Nyssa said, “Who gives you the day will give you also the things necessary for the day.”
