Water Memory

There is something about water life and death combined within the sliver arches of meaning.
As a child the sea amazed me I dreamt of living in its depths unknown to land, a friend to fish.
Years later I walked along the strand where my ancestors set sail to conquer England, and remembered.
They failed, but left a legacy A people who came from their blood.
Raised up like a phoenix from the faded hopes and struggles of a buoyant seafaring race.
