RETAIL

Project Description

This collaborative project tasked groups of two to work with a local clothing design student to design a retail space to showcase their current clothing line. Designers will be working with an existing building located in Rome, Italy and will gather information regarding the site from students studying in the area.

La Corona Del Mare

5

Concept Statement

Using the sun to influence the design will achieve color, texture, and proportion. Walls are bright white to emphasize tropical elements of the La Corona Del Mare line. Modern and neutral displays will be implemented to display the merchandise without shifting focus and allow for flexibility of the store for future clothing lines. Proportion will be achieved by transitioning from an expansive space on the ain level to intimate spaces in the lower level. The consumer will feel pampered, bold, and as big as the sun while shopping and getting thier clothes altered at LCDM.

EDUCATION Project Descripition

This collaborative project tasked the students in each 8-10 person group with conducting research ont he areas in the College Of Design at Iowa State University and designing renovation plans for two of the five floors. These design solutions should promote collaboration among design disciplines, provide flexibility through spatial accomodations, create an inspiring space that will encourage growth and diversity, compose a place of well-being and prosperity through the use of natural luxuries, and cater to the desires and needs of the design community and culture.

College of Design, Iowa State Rennovation Concept Statement

The College of Design is a home to students and faculty of all disciplines and backgrounds, and should provide for the needs and desires of this culture. Our goal is for students to experience the College of Design as a place of interlocking concepts, forms, and ideas that invoke collaboration and blend the design disciplines. Multi-functional work areas will allow students to work together both in and outside of the studio. A variation of zones and spaces within the building will stimulate users and provide fresh inspiration for the design process. The integration of natural luxuries such as daylight will strengthen users’ health and well-being. These elements of collaboration, flexibility, and inspiration will remain with them beyond their experiences in the College of Design.

Concept Statement

At Pacifico Point, residents can enjoy coming home to a warm, bright, and comforting space. Residents are welcomed into households and the community house with warm wood tile flooring, bright walls, and vaulted ceilings with contrasting dark wood beams to draw the eyes upward and accentuate valued ceilings. Entryways and hallways continue the warm wood tile while using neutral tones of brown alongside pops of orange, yellow, and blue to guide residents into spaces. Resident rooms provide intimate entrances with lowered ceilings, a comforting blue and orange color pallete, and engaging bed design.
