PREFACE As is the case with many aged documents, a large portion of text in the cryptic Warmont-Nièmes document had lost its integrity and urgently requires restoration. The National Museum of Singapore has thus paired up with a team of type designers in an attempt to recreate each of the different characters present in the document. What you would see in the following pages is thus the final result of this restorative effort. How each character originally appeared in the document is also shown to clearly demonstrate how the restorations were derived. While we try to show three of such 'original appearance,' some characters only appeared once or twice, preventing us from doing so. Do note that some creative license has been taken with some of the more damaged characters and in no way do these characters definitively represent a complete set of alphabet. We sincerely hope that this booklet has done justice to the original document. May the unique beauty of the Warmont-Nièmes characters truly be appreciated through this restoration.
