This site is in Fangcheng, a historical block. Because of its special location with imperial palace and commander house, I'd like to build an exhibition hall to exhibit its history and culture. In addition, the underground is a shopping mall, I want to take the culture and commerce as a conflict, combine commerce with exhibition to make people feel the cultural characteristics when they are shopping.

BUILDING FACADE
Instructor: Peter Andrew Vikar Fall 2015 Acdemic work: with Panpan Cao, Xixiao Zhang, Ziqi Pan Role: Facade research and design, Sunlight analysis, Diagram, 3D and physical model Our “blooming” pattern originates from the folding logic of origami. It changes shape from a triangle to a hexagon shaped unit to maximize the difference between extended and the folded state. Our unit is dynamically oscillating between extended and porous states to compensate for daylight and weather conditions. We have been focusing on mapping planar and cylindrical building geometries with our kinetic system as second skin applied on standard glass curtain facades.

This is an urban design project. We get the topic of field condition to design our own future city. We do some research about what will lead our future. So we start from 'BIG DATA' and 'AUTONOMOUS CAR' to develop our new road and transportation system. Based on these, we design our future city. Our city is a RESPONSIVE CITY, using big data to change the function of our city, both on the traffic and the buildings.

Site: Putian, Fujian, China October, 2014 Professional work: with Gong Yu, Cui Yiqun, Zhang Hengyan, Yang Guang Role: Concept, 3D Model, Diagram, Commercial elevation design The site is located in a place which is near the Jiuhua Mountain on its west side, it has a big corner, because of it, the form of commerce constructions are obey the shape of the site. Since the complex is nearing the mountain, so the elevation I want to make is like a ship, the facade is like the water when the ship is floating on it. It can also be seen like the mountain outline.

COMMERCIAL STREET
SITE: Shandong, China September 2014 Professional work with Gong Yu, Zhou Jiayue, Yang Guang Role: 13th-16th commercial constractions design, Elevation design, Structure, Digram The site is near the mountain and sea. The houses are well-proportioned with different kinds of forms. The layout is compact to create a modern community, and creating a "here and now" drawing. Moulding the freedom of growing spatial form, exploring how to make the winding streets and vivid houses remain on this land.
The south side of the terrain has a gully, we made it combined with the public square to fit the landscape node.
The terrain fall off from west to east, it is the biggest motivation determines the construction form. We decide to rely on the terrain to build the commercial settlement.

HANDY HANDS PROSTHETIC
Instructor: Marta Nowak, Iman Ansari Fall 2015 Acdemic work with Shuai Zhang Role: Concept of the handy hand
Going back to the evolution of human being, compared with our feet, out hands become more and more flexible and founctional. After doing some research of our hands, we want to design a thing that we can extend our fingers to grasp any kind of things freely, and make our hands become tools. However, we also want to figure out that whether it is necessary that our hand need 5 fingers. As a result, our project has two pieces, one has 3 fingers to extend our fingers with tool use. the other is to grasp old and hot things directly with 5 fingers.

Solid detail
In this project, we got two key words randomly and be asked to find a way to combine them. The first one is "Cellular", the characteristic of it are self-adaptation and selfo rg an ize , confinment, boundary and division. The other is "Aggregation" it means self-similarity, overlaps, clusters and branching. So we find the relationship between them is infection , Cellular could be structure and make aggregation infect it , agregation has two forms: cluster and branching , when the aggregation comes to an extend, the inmunity happens, and makes the whole system more complicated.

VERTICAL FARMING SHELF DESIGN ON THE BRIDGE
Site: Shanghai, China September 2014 Team work: with Jinghao Wang Role: Concept, Shelf designing, Diagram, PS
SHELF EVOLUTION
O: This shelf has many levels to contain varieties of vegetables, and different side can enjoy different plants.
O: Added the stepping places, which is convenient for the upper picking. Also setted the baffle for picker.
X: The shelf is over 2m, not easy to pick, the system is too complex, inconvenient to manage. There is no protection system, is not safe, either.
X: The stepping places is not realistic and safe, pickers may knock on the head. The rainwater collection system is too exaggerated. The shape is a little bit stiff.
O: Improved the shape of the shelf with steel structure to make the contours more comfortable, due to the traffic pollution, change the lower part to the greenhouse, which is closed, the upper is open to increase the sense of hierarchy. X: Design is not strong, and the upper part is too high to reach the top of the plant.
O: The shape is streamlined, The lower form could resist the wind better, the upper with suitable height could let people extend arms picking vegetables successfully. X: The design of planting and picking vegetables part is not strong enough. It still needs to be improved.

This project is about microliving, we assume that our pod is living in the space, our pod can stay at any planet, but the planet can not move, only the turning core can travel to any place, and it can also transport the person inside to different room. Talking about these three rooms, it all obey the human movememts and after overlaping all the movements, the shape is decided.
