Good evening and welcome back to Foxcotte Park to you all for tonight’s Sydenhams Wessex League One game between ourselves and Romsey Town.

I’d like to welcome Adam Pullinger his staff and players and everyone associated with the Town to Foxcotte tonight. They did make a great start with wins over New Milton Town, Whitchurch, Fleet Town (in the League Cup) and Selsey (in the FA Vase). They have hit a bit of a rocky patch with no points in the last five games including recent home defeats to Ringwood Town and US Portsmouth and a 1-0 away defeat to Alton.

We managed to get back to winning ways last Tuesday but we definitely made hard work of it after making a great start through another goal from Lockey.

We had a wonderful opportunity to extend the lead from the penalty spot but we failed to find the target. That put us under a bit of pressure for the second half, especially after the previous draw at Fawley, where they equalised late on. The long delay late on in the game also didn’t help but it was certainly a nasty clash between the two Whitchurch players and I must commend all that helped with the injured player from both teams, not only on the pitch but also off it.

We were disappointed that we couldn’t continue to build on last Tuesday’s result when our match with Verwood was called off on Saturday.

Also at the time of writing we are still unsure what the future holds for our level of football with the upcoming lockdown.

Hopefully we will be able to continue as any further delays will certainly impact future fixtures in order to complete the season. Having said that, I fully understand the reasoning’s behind this lockdown and wish everybody to remain safe and well over the next month or so.

Please get behind your team tonight, let’s continue to move forward together, up the table.

Enjoy the game and stay safe.
