Good afternoon and welcome back to Foxcotte Park to you all for today’s Sydenhams Wessex League One game between ourselves and Alton.

I’d like to welcome Kevin Adair his staff and players and everyone associated with the Brewers to Foxcotte today. They have started the season well with a 4-1 victory at Downton and high scoring home wins over Andover Town and Totton & Eling. They also suffered a 5-1 defeat at early pace setters Laverstoke & Ford before and impressive 2-1 victory over US Portsmouth. They drew 11 at home to Petersfield Town on Tuesday night.

Since my last notes we have drawn at home to Hythe & Dibden and also away last Tuesday night at Downton.

The result against Hythe was slightly disappointing as we got the perfect start with the goal from Ally McCracken and were very much in control of the game for most of the first half.

We allowed Hythe back into the game when Matt Scott was harshly penalised for handball but Wingy produced a fine save to keep out the penalty.

Unfortunately we suffered a defensive lapse that brought about the equaliser and despite our best efforts had to settle for a point. Tuesday’s game against Downton, we started slowly and were indebted to Sean O’Brien for a couple of first class saves to keep us at 0-0 but from then on I thought we bossed the game and just lacked that killer touch in front of goal.

We certainly felt comfortable, which was a real blow when Downton opened the scoring just after half-time as they hadn’t really threatened us to that point.

The lads rallied though and got the deserved equaliser when Lockey found the bottom corner from the left angle, just outside the box.

Again we couldn’t find that chance to win the match and had to settle for a point.

We will continue to focus on the next game and take it one game at a time. Titles aren’t handed out in October and I’m not interested in how other teams are performing. I’m solely focused on today’s game and winning the three points that are available to us today.

Please get behind your team, let’s move forward together, up the table and here’s to celebrating some good times.

Enjoy the game.
