The Street completed their own happy version of Cowes Week as they followed up their midweek League Cup win at Cowes Sports with a five-nil defeat of East Cowes Vics and three more Division One points.
Street, missing skipper Matt Scott and midweek hat trick hero Ross Cook, were quickly on the front foot with Lloyd Thompson denied by keeper Karl Steinborn-Busse’s legs and Shane Lock an inch or so wide after a clever reverse pass from Luke Hooper.
The Islanders responded, winning a corner that was well claimed by home keeper Sean O’Brien who was then out quickly to beat Jimmi Burton to a through ball before the home side took the lead on eighteen minutes, Hooper chased a long ball down the left and the ball was swiftly moved across the area to Lock and then Reece Rusher who slotted home inside the far post.
New Street were enjoying much the greater share of possession and doubled their score just after the midway point of the half. A quick throw by Thompson found the defender the wrong side of Shane Lock, captain for the day, and the finish past the advancing goalkeeper was clinical.

Goal number three came in the last minute of the half as Steinborne-Busse palmed away a shot from Hooper and Lloyd Thompson steered the loose ball home from a narrow angle.
The second half continued in the same vein and after ten minutes it was four-nil. Owen outstripped the defence and Lock slid the ball home via the inside of the post. Street had four consecutive corners and the fourth saw Hooper tangle with the goalkeeper and the referee produced yellow and red cards in quick succession and the home side were down to ten men.
Harry Lawton had been on the field for less than a minute when meeting a corner at the far post for goal number five, Rusher found the side netting when a square ball would have perhaps had more effect and both Lock and Lawton hit the post before Rusher, seeing the keeper out of his goal, struck the crossbar from the edge of the centre circle.
The home side continued to make light of their numerical disadvantage though they survived a scare when Burton cleverly lobbed O’Brien with the ball cleared off the line.
