LEAGUE PREVIEW

THE MANAGER

Good evening and a warm welcome to Foxcotte Park to all our supporters for tonight’s opening game of the season against our visitor’s Fleetlands, and to their Officials, Management, Players and Supporters.

After the exceptional effort and performance last season and being so close to being promoted, this evening’s match represents a significant part of the club’s history, and for myself, staff and players it gives us an enormous amount of pleasure to be able to be part of it.

However, the game itself is the most important thing and we must focus on the game in a professional manner.

Fleetlands stand between us tonight, and they are a club who have done brilliantly in recent years, rising back up the leagues to be back playing in the Wessex League, where they were in 2007. They are a progressive football club and I have no doubt that this evening’s game will be another tough one.

Over the summer we have seen several players come into the club and thankfully only one noticeable leaver in Reece Rusher. May I take this opportunity to wish Reece all the best as he continues his playing career with Bemerton Heath.

I’m really pleased to keep the nucleus of the squad together, which for prolonged periods over a tough season saw us produce some 5-star performances. I’m especially pleased to retain the younger players – Cam Thatcher, Joe Rogers and Josh Jeffery, who are all the future of the club. Pre-season has been good with the lads getting valuable minutes under their belts and more importantly we have come through the period with very few injuries.

I mentioned earlier about new faces coming to the club and I’d like to personally welcome George Baxter, Eddie Perrett, Scott Hassell, Josh Moore, Arran Moore and George Hallahan, some experienced players that have not only come and in freshened the squad but have completely endorsed the way we want to play.

We have one simple target, which is promotion. I believe the squad of players we have here are more than capable of achieving wonderful things but it’s going to take hard work and ability to get there, starting with tonight’s game.

Can I also say that your support last season was exceptional. To have the highest average attendance for the division and some of the travelling support has been memorable, anyone remember Cribbs away? So please continue to get behind us.

Enjoy the game.
