NEW MILTON TOWN

An inconsistent start to the season for the Linnets will be on manager Paul Turner’s mind. However, an impressive 3-2 win over Wessex Premier Moneyfields in the League Cup on Tuesday night, proves the Linnets are a strong side in the division. KEVIN PIPKIN looks at the New Milton Town squad on show this afternoon.

The Linnets arrive at Foxcotte Park after their opening day victory over Millbrook, which was followed up with a 4-2 defeat at Romsey Town.

Luke Stone was on target for the Linnets in their trip to Verwood Town, which proved to be the only goal of the game at Potterne Park.

New Milton must have been looking to achieve back-to-back league wins with the visit of Downton, but a brace from substitute TJ Moseley and further goals from Oliver Davies and from Downton top scorer Krzysztof Krystofowicz ensured a 4-1 win for the Robins. Luke Stone was again on target for the Linnets with their consolation goal.

New Milton then took on Fleet Town in the Hampshire Senior Cup in a match that can only be described as a game of two halves, due to the slope on the pitch.

The Linnets took the lead in the 38th minute with Luke Stone finding the net again. The lead lasted until the 60th minute when Fleet equalised and would find a late winner in the 86th minute.

Last Saturday saw New Milton return to league action with a home match against resurged Totton & Eling. A first half brace from George Deem and a further goal from Elliott Pearce-Eavis gave the Linnets a 3-1 advantage at halftime.

Brandon Hamerston added a fourth in the second half as New Milton triumphed 4-2 over the Millers in front of a crowd of 101 people.

On Tuesday night, the Linnets out fought their higher league opponents, with the tie featuring three red cards, two penalties and a sin binning.

George Deem scored a brace with Ethan Ouarchioni also on target as the Linnets advanced to the next wound.
