Summer Session
Why attend Summer Session at Andover? Every year hundreds of students from across the United States and around the world ask themselves this same question. Academics at Andover At Andover, you can select from more than 60 courses in the arts, English, ESL, mathematics, history, world languages, philosophy, religion, and science. We believe that the summer should be a time for exploring new passions and strengthening old ones, and that it should be different from what you experience during the school year. Unlike other summer programs, students at Andover may take no more than two classes. This allows students to focus their studies and go into depth in their field of interest. Our outstanding ESL program offers non-native English speakers who have a basic knowlege of conversational English the opportunity to become more proficient in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English. Unlike other programs, we cap the number of students accepted from any one country in order to ensure that students have the greatest opportunity to practice their English with the hundreds of students on campus. For those entering the eighth grade, we have created the Lower School Institutes, which offers interdisciplinary courses in a program tailored to meet the needs of younger students.

College Counseling Organized and staffed by experienced counseling professionals, Summer Session’s College Counseling program brings to campus representatives from colleges and universities across the country to offer workshops and meet with students to help them gain a better understanding of the college application process. Students also can set up individual appointments with the counseling staff to ask more specific questions. On Wednesdays, students also have the opportunity to go on college visits to see some of the best colleges and universities New England has to offer, including Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown, and Dartmouth. Residential Life at Andover Supervised by an experienced faculty, the residential program offers students the opportunity to gain independence, learn about themselves and others, and live in the most diverse community they ever may have experienced. Living in dorms allows students to experience the independence of college while in an environment that offers more caring and experienced adult support than most college summer programs.
