ANDREA BELOTTI Based in Bergamo and graduated in Scienze dell’ architettura at Politecnico di Milano. I love conceiving architecture as a process that arise from the necesity to respond to problems. I think freehand drawings as a true and unique expression of the idea. I use technology as a tool at the service of architecture. I like architectural models as an expression and control of space. I belive in teamworks as the only means ofachieving a goal.

PAULLO LEARNING CENTRE Architectural Design Studio 1 - Paullo Paullo Learning Centre is a project that deepen the theme of spatial composition through the "redesign of the existing" from an internal architecture already consolidated that is the elementary school Mazzini in the town of Paullo (Milan), from the early twentieth century. Over time the building has undergone tampering and integrations and was finally free from all his functions pending a new use that turn it into a cultural attraction for the city, for all generations. A regeneration project that attempts to recreate a virtuous relationship between people, the memory of places and culture. Architectural upgrading, organization of internal and external spaces and perceptive connection were the main themes developed within this project that houses a variety of functions and services, including a library, study
rooms, teaching space for children, areas for upgrade courses, start-up and co-working, exhibition space, cafĂŠ, bookshop. Metamorphosis from inside was then developed the dialectic with urban surroundings, on which the building is facing and which relates to the private with the public. In this regard it has been reorganized the inner courtyard of the building turned into a botanical garden that leads, through a system of ramps, to the auditorium in the basement next to the library. The road in front of the building has been modified to make way for an wooden podium entrance and a park accessible by the entire community in place of a car park.

UNIVERSITY OF GENOA Architectural Design Studio 2 - Genoa The project of the new university center for the Polytechnic University of Genoa is part of a complex context, bordered by the mountain, the Bisagno river, the surrounding buildings of different matrices, roads and a highway. In particular, the project is confronted with the problem of river flooding and for this purpose the intent was to create a wooded ring, green areas and rolling tanks to cope with the problem. The constructive system of the whole complex is characterized by a succession of reinforced concrete bearing septa that determine the spaces destined for different uses, the composition of the facades and the openings, the horizontal and vertical circulation, as well as the service centers. The orientation of these then allowed a subsequent and graded fragmentation of the blocks but always allowing the connection between the different modules. The internal distribution as
well as the external one has been generated by a grid that takes as its form the existing building that has been decided to maintain and enhance, also through the element of the water that emphasizes its monumentality. The auditorium next to the existing elementary school becomes the element of exception within the orthogonal mesh and it’s the culmination of the axis that starts from the main access and diagonally cuts our project area, tracing the historical route of the old tramway, and the axis of the Carrega bridge that identifies secondary access that can be used by the residents for the auditorium and the terrace. This allows you to walk the entire area allowing access to the different departments of the university, through paths that are increasingly fragmented approaching the building connecting parallel to the existing wall, opening views to the mountain and the Church of San Michele.

REUSE OF DISUSED FACTORY Urban Planning - Vaprio d’ Adda The project is part of an analysis of two important axes of the north-eastern area of Milan: the axis of the Martesana river and the axis of the Adda river along which there are some abandoned industrial areas. In particular, the main infrastructures, the services system, the economic activities, the overall green system, the main brownfield areas, the transformation areas and the land consumption have been highlighted to see the potentials and limits of the area under study. . At the same time, a survey has been carried out on the degree of accessibility of the territory and its vitality, factors that today are considered fundamental for the inclusive dimension that cities must now ensure. The abandoned industrial area subsequently developed is that of the former paper industry of Vaprio d 'Adda. The same logic of investigation has been carried out on a local scale in order to identify the services to be inclu-
ded within the area and in particular the theme of residence for the elderly has been chosen, a service that can guarantee hospitality and care to a category often on the margins of society. Inside the area there is also a hostel that manages a gym and an outdoor sports area, a restaurant area, the museum, a large public park with a cycle path and an amphitheater as an event space so that it can be lived in all seasons, a therapeutic garden with sensory paths. Furthermore, part of the existing building has been demolished but the historic building has been completely preserved inside which all the functions have been included thus avoiding the construction of new buildings.

BORN TO BE WINE Thesis work - Carcavelos All The large families have a shy kinsman, a quieter family member and measured in words. The large family of Portuguese fortified national wines also has a kinsman like that. Today Carcavelos is an obscure wine and almost ignored in Portugal, a wine of almost virtual production. It is certainly not for lack of historical weight, for lack of tradition or quality that the wine Carcavelos has come to this state of numbness. The Museum of Wine of Carcavelos inside the Quinta do Barão is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Cascais with the private sector, the "Plano de Pormenor de Reestruturação Urbanística" approved for this area in 2009 with the aim to integrate a wine production area of about 5.0 hectares, "which may represent an allegory to the production of Carcavelos wine" and the recovery of the former winery within the famous Quinta do Barão, the demolition of a part of it and the construction of a new building that meets the needs of a new conception of the museum that combi-
nes public and private aspects, educational and social for the new museum to represent a reality rooted in the territory and a pole that creates participation between the communities, through classrooms for educational use and environments for cultural and commercial events. A museum that collects the testimonies of the culture of the product of the territory, the wine, through a research course that illustrates, in addition to the phases of the production, the value of tradition that binds to the fascination of the land and its cultivation. The intention is therefore to constitute a museum of that precise site, through the evocation of the memory of the place and the enhancement of the existing traces, through a concept of center of interpretation and the multidisciplinary presentation of the contents that refer to the history, the territory of the wine region of Carcavelos, the vineyard and its production, commercialization and dissemination of this generous wine.

SANXENXO LEISURE PORT Architectural intervention - Pontevedra The project aims to standardize the emerging elements in the maritime platform, in addition to strengthening its relations with the city through a series of landscape, urban and architectural interventions. The idea is to offer to the city a new public space (Plaza do Mar), a renovated and contemporary building (Capitaneria) and finally a new icon (multi-purpose building) which will be the new architectural reference for the city of Sanxenxo. The multi-purpose building is positioned at the end of Plaza do Mar, behind the Yacht Club, to allow greater flexibility to the space for events and open-air activities. The intervention in this Plaza do Mar is reduced, from the formal point of view, to the construction of the edges by means of pergolas with photovoltaic sensors on wooden step flooring, spaces for rest and contemplation. The building is lowered towards the square to reduce
the perception of its volume, to allow light control and the direction of the main winds. Imagine a translucent glass step roof (or in our case the new EFTE ecological material with photovoltaic cells) that shines with the rain and the reflections of the sun and clouds, diluting its physical limits, making its borders disappear. Inside, the space is absolutely versatile and flexible to allow as many scenarios as possible. As regards the Capitaneria building, a change of image is proposed through the replacement of the roofs with a covered terrace, a new observation area for the city accessible from the Plaza do Mar. This open terrace will be covered with a metal or textile mesh with photovoltaic collectors that will run vertically on some facades, in order to give a new powerful, contemporary but also ecological and sustainable image.

NEW SEA MUSEUM Architectural intervention - Trieste The creation of the New Museum of the Sea in the district of the Old Port of Trieste is an opportunity to trigger a mechanism of urban regeneration. The project proposal aims at the definition of an intervention strategy not limited exclusively to the redefinition of Warehouse 26 as a container for a new use, but which is actually able to redevelop the selected area creating relationships and synergies with a much wider context than the immediate around the building. In this perspective it was decided to extend the museum area outside the museum, to the surrounding public space and to connect to the rest of the city, in order to guarantee the museum's involvement in city life. A real public square, a place dedicated to the theatrical representation of the Museum, to the staging of a museographic tale that starts right in this open-air foyer. A predominantly pedestrian space paved in sandstone
slabs enriched by the introduction of important elements of national nautical history, arranged in succession in correspondence with the central axis of Warehouse 26, contributing to the definition of an architectural promenade transversal to that of the public square in front of the museum. At the architectural level, the proposal has achieved the goal of respecting and even strengthening the historical-patrimonial value of the building, while at the same time contemplating a contemporary character, to make it recognizable, functional and adequate to international standards. The management economics and interventions that provide for the methodological approach of the urban scale proposal, is in fact also adopted in the architectural project, respecting the constraints and above all the original structures, the materials and the typological-distributive characteristics of the complex.

ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM Archaeology and prehistory museum + Regional Government Office - Santander There are two main questions that the project must answer. The first refers to the type of relationship between the two buildings required: the Museum of Prehistory and Archeology and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Cantabrian community. The second concerns the relationship of both with the place where they will be built, a large plot with a very complex topography. The project proposes total independence between both buildings, since, from a functional and maintenance point of view, there should be no interference, dependence or subordination between the two organizations. On the other hand, the development of the program in two separate buildings allows a fertile dialogue on urban resonances, to the creation of a qualified public space between them. It is not just a question of offering the city a good building but of building a place, an urban place. A new public space that will intensify the relationship between museum and city.
A space for social interaction and cultural recognition. The two buildings are implanted with sensitivity in the geometry of the urban plot, highlighting the positive aspects: the oblique and distant view of the sea from the museum building and the presence of the lush vegetation of the garden of the Escolapios, as a final perspective of the new public space delimited by the two volumes. Along this line, the Ministry building takes a step back to give visibility and prominence to the public building that constitutes the Museum. The public space will be covered, like the two buildings, with a glass roof with the aim of ensuring formal coherence and unity and at the same time protecting from the rain. A tribune that winds along a zigzag ramp will allow you to connect the streets surrounding the building, offering at the same time a necessary place to stay for all events connected to the museum, reaffirming its goal of social integration and not of simple container and archive .
