ABOUT ME: Since very young I started to express my creativity through the Lego bricks, the model making and sketching. During the time I discovered a true passion for Architecture, Design, Landscape and the professional Model Making through the immersive process of observation. I decided to dedicate my passions to add my contribution to urban and natural spaces. Today as Architect and Model Maker, I wish to put all these enthusiasms and experiences into practice and transform them into useful tools for a careful and wondrous approach to architectural design and city planning.
SHIP IN A BOTTLE
FLORIDA’S FUNICULAR ELEVATOR Barrio Florida it’s one of the oldest parts of Valparaiso, dating back to the first colonisation in the XVI century. In the XX century it hosted the italian community of the region and turne a densely populated area, so the municipality deceided to buid the funicular to facilitate the dockers who lived on the top of the hill and worked at the harbour every day. The elevator, recently declared Historical Monument by the chilean government, reaches an altitude of 50 m.a.s.l. with a lenght of 138 m and a slope of 19°.
Requalification of a Funicular Elevator in Valparaiso, Chile Valparaiso is a complex and articulated city, its cerros (hills) being at the same time its primary attraction and the cause of many of the urban and social troubles which affect its neighbourhoods. To solve these problems and strengthen the connections between the lower city (Plan) and the top of the natural terraces of the cerros, Valparaiso’s municipality built many Funicular Elevators in the first decades of last century. Most of them are now abandoned, but are still important centres for the day to day life of some neighbourhoods.

This Project aimed at the requalification of the Ascensor Florida in Valparaiso to transform it into a civic centre capable of hosting cultural events and collective activities as well as take advantage of the incredible view from the top of the cerro and frame it in a “gallery” which shows the History and geografy of Valparaiso through its landscape. If a whole ship can fit inside a bottle then we could trap Valparaiso’s landmarks inside a building

THE UPPER STATION The funicular station has been extended to host a new civic centre, as required by the neighbourhoods committee. A new volume of 500 sqm has been carved in the side of the hilltop, taking advantage from the natural shape of the ground to allow the 1 construction of a new open amphitheatre enclosed between the new volume and the funicular’s rails.

ASSEMBLY LINE Social Housing and urban Refurbishment at Lingotto, Turin commercial
cycling paths
On the site of a former industrial plant belonging to FIAT automobiles production, this project draws inspiration in the proximity of an important railway junction and its ambiguous relationship with the urban fabric sorrounding it. The municipality impulsed the construction of a small residential neighbourhood to accomodate the growing demand of housing in the area. The project consists of an intervention on two level: First of all a new masterplan for was studied for the area around the municipality’s skyscraper still in construction. Great attention was put on the design of public spaces and cycling paths which shapes were inspired by the railroads switches and turnpoints and which provide a protective barrier against the noise of the always busy railroad. Once the masterplan had been established we proceeded to design the housing scheme, making sure to conceive it to be a flexible and quick housing typology, able to grow and accomodate changes in familiar situations.

Destinations
THE RAILROAD PARK On the edges of the railroad a green belt is designed to separate the new residential neighbourhood from the important railway junction of Lingotto. The park consists of a serie of cycling and pedestrians paths, shaped as railroad switches, built on the side of a high blackfill wall, conceived as a noise and sight barrier against the clamour of the railroad’s traffic.

Each housing cell is conceived to accomodate enough room for further expansion in the future, thus granting flexibility and variety according to each family needs. The design and construction process are inspired by the proximity of the railroad and the cargo train coaches which still lied abandoned everywhere on the site at the moment of the first survey.
