Considering an assigned lot, in small groups we evaluated private real estate investments. We carried out the cost/income analysis, we determined profitability index (net present value NPV and internal rate of return) and we evaluated the plot of land value of transformation. Finally, we carried out the sensivity analysis to understand which variables weighted more in the final results.

Professor F. Manzone and L. Morra I year of Master's Program In small groups of 3 people we were asked to plan the demolition of a bridge on the river Po, in the north of Italy. We were supposed to find a suitable, innovative and safe system for a selective dismantlement of the bridge that was partially fallen down. The project included the studio of the equipments and the driveability of the construction site. Each material was characterized, in order to be recycled or properly disposed. Vehicles and equipments were characterized and dimensioned. We also carried out the time schedule of the construction site.

different technological systems and the executive feasibility with regard to specific environment and climate characteristics, in order to promote saving of both energy and cost. The current regulations on school buildings have been studied and analyzed: the main act is D.M. 18/12/1975, but the unsuitableness of standards in relation to the new spatial requirements led to the publication, in 2013, of guidelines that defines parameters for spaces that should fit the innovations connected to digital technologies and to the evolutions of the didactics. The transposition of the technical information about innovative construction systems on the market on one hand and of the indications on the design of school internal spaces on the other, led to the final stage of the following treatise: the design of a lower secondary school complex in Florence. I carried out: preliminary architectural design, structural dimensioning, choices on building services and technical choices about materials, technologies and installation systems. For the main educational spaces, a detailed study has been conducted, in order to demonstrate the inadequacy of the parameters expressed in D.M. 18/12/1975.

The course aims at introducing the topic of structural safety, theory and design techniques, applied to steel and reinforced concrete structures. The structural design was to be done without using any software, but only traditional calculations in relation to italian technical standards. The steel structure is a shed, (22,90 x 40 m) made up of 8 spans, with steel trusses (english type). The reinforced concrete structure is a residential building, 5 floors, about 13 m high. The design included staircases and balconies.

My Final Project for BSc program concerned the functional recovery of an historic building in Porta Romana district (Florence). The complex of the Fabbric of the Royal Stables was built when Florence was a capital city, between 1866 and 1869, because of the Court’s need for larger stables, which could host horses and the quarters of the staff. It includes the wide green area where the Scuderie buildings, at the moment site of the Art Institute, and the Pagliere, that were used as Museum of the Figurative Arts of the 20th century, are located. The Pagliere building is now unused and it is decaying, my role was therefore to give it back a function so that to give it the chance for a redevelopment. I carried out several analysis on the city and on the district and i decided for a change of use to a multimedia center for the study, research and information on the evolution of the urban and periurban areas of the city of Florence.

The ground floor, now divided by partitions, was originally one large hall which hosted horses, marked by pillars and covered by cross vaults. The upper floor, introduced by the loggia, was used as a warehouse for hay. It received air through the arch openings, with the characteristic architectural pattern of the baked clay grids.
