“LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING AND LIVING EXPERIENCES THAT ARE WORTH SHARING” - SJ
I believe that great doctors are not built inside of books, great doctors for me, are the ones that are both great professional and human begins. I believe that this type of doctors are formed upon their experiences. I am Andrea Falconí, a 5th year medical student at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. I am currently the Regional Assistant of the Americas for SCOPE 2016/2017. With an overwhelming happiness, I hereby present to all of you my candidature for the position of General Assistant for the term 2017/2018. I joined IFMSA 4 years ago, were I was surrounded by desperate thoughts of leaving this career. Along national assemblies, regional meetings and general assemblies I felt in love with this organization. The General Assembly, at Arusha, was an eye opener of the great things we can achieve as students.
It was overwhelming to see so many different cultures joined together to work for a same goal. Together we have created the biggest exchange program worldwide coordinated by students. It is unbelievable what we are able to do. We have now, for many years, proved the capability of our exchanges team, to bring high academic quality experiences for all of our medical students. I didn’t truly understood the impact that we had on people, until I finished my exchange in Spain. After this experience, I understood that we are creating a new era of doctors. We are creating doctors that wil have their mind opened to different health and working conditions. We are building doctors that wil understand to its core the importance of global health. Finally, we have the opportunity to take care of new patients, learning more about their culture.
We are creating doctors that wil have their mind opened to different health and working conditions. We are building doctors that wil understand to its core the importance of global health. Finally, we have the opportunity to take care of new patients, learning more about their culture. I know that my heart is painted blue. I know that I live, breathe and love SCOPE in all of its different ways. I want to continue my work in this committee, because I know I stil have a lot to give. With this set on my mind, I want to be the change I want to see in the world. I want to continue working with this Committee that has opened so many doors to so many students worldwide. I want to continue working in SCOPE because I know that together with the SCOPE IT we can build a stronger committee. Yours,
Andrea Faclconí
