Social Innovation Bootcamp seeks skilled professionals to collaborate, learn & design solutions for social entrepreneurs in Rio de Janeiro, a year ahead of the 2016 games. Social entrepreneurship volunteer specialists _SocialStarters, are excited to announce their new two-week Social Innovation Bootcamp in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! With some exciting partners… On a mission to bring together 10 talented people from different worlds to create change a year ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the lucky selected participants of Social Innovation Bootcamp will meet, learn from - and work alongside - some of the most exciting social entrepreneurs Rio has to offer across arts, culture, sport and social enterprise. This is an opportunity for post-grads, skilled professionals, freelancers & aspiring social entrepreneurs to immerse themselves into latin culture whilst learning all about social entrepreneurship, with the people responsible for creating the cultural legacy of the games. Delivered with official partners, Eixo Rio (a department in the State Secretariat of Culture) alongside Agencia, Oi! Kabum & MakeSense, _SocialStarters are putting a call out for inquisitive intrepids from all around the world to apply to #JoinUs. If successful, you could be taking part in two weeks of ideation workshops, problem solving, grassroots business start-up training and so much more. The core delivery team’s expertise is in youth development, ethical travel, social enterprise, consulting, career-coaching, volunteer management and digital marketing. They come from a variety of backgrounds but worked on London 2012 Olympic Games’ official legacy programme for young people and UK government backed International Citizen Service (ICS) in East Africa. Social Innovation Bootcamp activities include: A crash course in global social entrepreneurship and social innovation Ideation, design thinking and problem solving workshops Introduction to start-up methods and testing business ideas Hands on experience of working with a start-up social enterprise in Rio Working on ‘live’ briefs and challenges by entrepreneurs in Rio who are aiming to tackle social issues across arts, culture and sport Taking on the role of ‘Social Enterprise Consultant’ and working with your own clients Plus additional excursions to see some of the best that Rio has to offer across arts & culture Social Innovation Bootcamp starts in Rio on 4th July and runs until 18th July inclusive. Package costs £1280.00 and includes 14 nights accommodation, 4 excursions, minimum 6
half-day workshops, 2 days volunteer consulting, social outings and start up training. Does not include flights and food. About _SocialStarters _SocialStarters design highly immersive bespoke volunteer programmes and social entrepreneurship experiences that currently see the development of social entrepreneurship in Kenya, India, Sri Lanka and Brazil. They work with partners like UnLtd India, VSO in Kenya, and the British Council in Sri Lanka to source grassroots social entrepreneurs, and then match professionals who take on the role of ‘Social Enterprise Consultant’ with a social enterprise client. Organisers _SocialStarters dedicate their time to mentoring their international volunteers to develop and test financially sustainable and socially or environmentally impactful business ideas. They also place focus on their participants to return to work as ‘intrapreneurs’, or equip them to have more experience and knowledge to move into the social Enterprise sector. Graduates from their programmes have worked for leading brands, charities, media and government such as L’Oreal, Deloitte, the UN, Cancer Research UK, the World Health Organisation (WHO), Innocent Drinks, Tesco and Sony Playstation. They see applicants from all around the world, and participants in their six week volunteer programmes have come from the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, USA, Cameroon, France, Taiwan.
