When Julius Caesar returned home to Cleopatra after conquering Egypt around the 48th BC, perfume bottles were thrown into the crowd to show his dominance over Egypt. The richness of the Egyptian pharmacopoeia has been adopted by many other cultures. The Assyrians, Babylonians and the Hebrews drew their vast knowledge from the Egyptians. When the Egyptian empire collapsed around 300 BC, Europe became the heart of medicine where new methods were continually evolving, and scientific system of healing was coming to life.
