About Me As an interior designer, I strive to create functional and comfortable spaces. I feel that the mental wellbeing of users, sustainability, and biophilic design are becoming the most important aspects of design, and I love to incorporate those in my designs. I personally have an interest in small scale commercial spaces such as boutique hotels, cafes, restaurants, and retail spaces.

public active space The active public space is located in Denver, Colorado. It is based on previous projects that formed around a memory. The building is currently being used as an REI flagship store making this project an adaptive reuse project. I aimed to challenge myself through the shapes and space planning. Rhino | Revit | Enscape
The concept for this project resides in the idea of an exploratory memory. Created in Rhino, my Elsewhere project is a space that was inspired by nature, specifically canyons and the organic formations they create. Interesting shapes and forms, as well as natural materials were important for me to include in the public space project. There are fun and interesting places to sit, see, touch, smell within the building. I want people to feel a sense of wonderment and excitement when they walked in. Having many different seating options gives guests the opportunity to work the way they want. Having different activities to do within gives a bigger purpose in the space as a whole. There are relaxation spots, places to gather with friends or family, a place to eat and drink, active spaces such as the climbing wall and the bike shop and workout spaces upstairs with saunas and pools. A common area in such a dense, active city is a new and interesting idea that I wanted to create through new ideas of nature and shapes.
360 View for Elsewhere Project
elsewhere The shapes are abstracted versions of what I believe a canyon would look or feel like. The memory that I based this model off of was that feeling of wanting to explore when I got to Florence, Italy to study. I made this more natural though, rather than city like because nature speaks to me more with its organic shapes and materials. These renders and diagrams are examples of what I was able to accomplish through a new software and through new design challenges. The word cloud to the right is research from an analysis done through Qualtrics to show what emotions were felt throughout my 360 degree view. *Statistics came from 34 students*

the site
Denver is an active city located in Colorado. It’s surrounded by nature, including the Rocky Mountains and half a dozen National Parks. The location of Denver REI (previously functioning as the Denver Tramway Power Company), is right on the Platte River at the edge of downtown and next to the I-25. There are parks, restaurants, cafes, and breweries surrounding the location at walking distance.

fika hotel This project was an adaptive reuse boutique hotel in Seattle using shipping containers both outside and in a guest room. The concept for this space was the Swedish tradition of "fika". The space was created specifically so guests could share space, meet new people, and experience a cozy time with their coffee, pastry and friends.

Concept The concept for this boutique hotel was the Swedish act of Fika. This term means to take a break with loved ones with sweets and coffee. So the over-arching idea in this hotel was to create individual spaces for guests to gather. I used family style dining tables in the cafe, a game room in the back of the cafe, and smaller seating areas throughout the first floor. I incorporated this idea in the rooftop bar as well.

rooftop Throughout the levels of the building there are smaller spaces for people to gather more intimately (highlighted in the colored squares). The rooftop was a main focus for the boutique hotel because I wanted to encourage that interaction with other guests through fun experiences. There's a rooftop bar that has smaller nests and where the shipping containers are located are games like corn hole and "big" Jenga. Adding a fun aspect will encourage more interaction which was my main goal throughout the hotel.

the power of scapes This project was set in Florence, Italy while I was studying abroad. We curated art work and had the option of what medium we wanted to focus on. I focused on black and white photography and curated it to show contrast between the built environment, nature, people and animals. We used an existing workshop for our shell. Hand Render
blocking diagram I did a few iterations of a blocking diagram. We were required to have a front of house, back of house, and transitional spaces. The F.O.H. Includes my lobby, gallery space, restrooms, and the sacred area. Each painting is situated in between an angled partition to give optimum viewing for each individual painting.
gallery render
I separated this gallery into fours in the order of which came first: animals, nature, people, and the built environment. My overarching theme was to show how this world is ultimately effected by humans. The sacred piece was at the very end to show the true beauty of nature and to give the sense of respite from the rest of the gallery. Also added in between each space are interactive screens giving information about the photographers and the topic.

florence airbnb
This Airbnb project focused on details. We had to create 4 different details: a handle/pull, materials connecting at a corner, a piece of furniture and a pattern. It was set in Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence, intended for a group of friends to use. Revit | Photoshop
details Here are examples of my pattern and my knob for the doors. My aesthetic concept for the overall space was a combining organic vs. inorganic and a "jungle in the city". Florence is iconic, but doesn't have a lot of green space. So I wanted to create a new, fun, and fresh design for an interior in such a historical city, using natural materials, rattan, and utilizing that organic vs inorganic through shapes and other materials.

the space Along with the knob and the pattern, I designed the shelving on the right, the counter/table unit, and the sun piece behind the couch. I wanted to combine that organic vs inorganic aspect with the round tops of the cabinets, the tables, and the sun and then the right angles of the couch, beams, and rays on the wall-piece. I tried to create a comfortable and fresh space by adding the bold color and the warm tones of the woods.

besse residence The Besse residence focused on an older couple, with one of them being in a wheelchair. ADA was obviously required within this space located in Colfax, WA. I incorporated warm colors and durable materials to accommodate the wheelchair usage. Hand Render
p r o c e s s wo r k
concept My concept for this space stemmed from the parti on the left. I played with contrasting shapes and sizes, and wanted to see how I could further that in a model that makes it more abstract from a 2D image. From this model I formed the concept words, "safety, line, and form" and applied these things throughout the design in the materials, and the flow of the space.
