oon after finishing my architecture de gree at the Kent School of Architecture I was employed by Granit Chartered Architects as a part 1 architectural assistant. Granit is a thriving and well established firm specialising in high end residential projects. The directors have given me far more responsibility than I could have hoped for in my first year in industry, being given whole projects to take from survey right through to completion. This portfolio consists of the work I have done in my year out thus far and is best understood when viewed alongside its precursor, my part 1 graduate portfolio. Comparing the two shows me how I have developed in style and technique from the conceptual material I had produced at university. I wanted to project a more mature aesthetic this time around, which also displays the technical abilities I have learnt from my industry experience. I have enjoyed my experience in industry thus far but I am itching to sink my teeth into the dissertations and design projects of a masters degree in architecture which I see as one of my last opportunities to invest a substantial amount of time exploring areas of architecture and design that I would like to influence and guidme for the rest of my career.

NORTHCOTE LIBRARY C o m m e r c i a l
The Nortchote Library/book shop is an exciting community project which involves the integration of a bookshop and cafe into the Northcote Road Library. The idea is to intergrate a non profit book shop, cafe and library to bring a higher footfall to the library. We are also taking the oportunity to re-organise parts of the 60s built brutalist library in order for it to serve its 21st century readers. I have designed and visualised many possible designs to help the community group fundraise for the project.

Here is a visualization of some joinery I designed for the project. The space we were allocated was extremely tight and squeezing a functional bookshop and cafe into them would have been impossible without some kind of well designed joinery which takes advantage of the height of the space. OSB is a cheap construction material which suited the budget but also, when balanced with other finishes, can bring some warmth and honesty to the space.

L AND AT LYDDEN GROVE R E S I D E N T I A L
Land at Lyden is a project I became involved in at a later stage, the architect required some assistance with putting ideas across with the use of drawings and renders. I produced the image below to explain the overall massing to the planning officer. I will be working on the tender package for this project.

I was asked to create these axonometric drawings in order to explain the performance of a project in which we applied retrofit techniques. The plan is to use these to explain to clients and contrctors what we can achieve with existing structures.

KECTHBOOK p o r t r a i t s
After finishing my architecture degree there was a short period in which I was compiling a portfolio and seeking employment. In order to keep my self busy and remain productive I decided to invest time in sketching portraits of family members which I could also take with me to interviews. Drawing portraits was a refreshing outlet after my architecture degree, I enjoyed taking the opportunity to focus on a new subject matter. I enjoyed sketching faces from a range of ages all requiring different techniques to best evoke the characters I know so well.
