design process This follies inherited some order which is the placement of the blocks. there are 2 different kind of placement inside the model. one of them is placing blocks in the 90 degree manner and the vise versa which is by placing them in the random way. Although that two of the order is contrary each other, but the harmony and balance is still inside of the model itself.

Unity is a Architecture follies project that taking an Angkor Wat temple as a subject of inspiration.

shadow study The Interesting and Meaningful of Shadow casting is also playing apart in this Landscape Project Which is relate the specific timing with “Angkor Wat” itself. For the 12 PM, there is not much of shadow playing around in the landscape. This specific timing implying the Zenith Passage on Angkor Wat which is happened on every August 17. Zenith Passage can be related to the Numerology and Astrology of the Angkor Wat which means that Zenith Passage is the Factor of the Angkor Wat The concept of the “UNITY” is came from the mandala pattern Arhitecture PLacement. The 7 AM When the sun start to rise is to that inspired people of that era to built the angkor wat which is represent the Angkor wat temple is The centre of Universe . Vastu Purusha mandala. With the principle whereby the center part of the layout plan should not be a weight, The idea of using the center part of the layout as a landscape element surrounded with the architecture is coming out. People can sit and relax on the “UNITY” at the same time, the feel of Angkor wat is still existed. The structure itself is inspired from the scale of the overall plan of the Angkor wat, By looking it, “UNITY” give the sense of scale that relate back to the Angkor wat.

design development

section The section of ‘Unity’ shows the functionality of the spaces. Starts from a spaces for people to rethink about the past event of Angkor Wat, it also serves as the spaces for the people to interact with each other.

Public spaces proposal @Tanjong Pagar Plaza

linkcreation Residential Public Spaces Design proposal @ Tomlimson Height, Singapore

By incorporating the concept of “Mixed-used” which is the identity of the spaces and at the same time, it’s also act as the identity of the whole tanjong pagar, The user can have both experience. The residents can have a experience market places atmosphere and the seller can enjoying a residential oriented program. By mixing both together, This spaces creates a new perspective of living spaces that has both experiences in one instead of keeping the apart. By giving a space to gather; relax and even observe what other people doing, indirectly, the space give a lot of opportunity to connect with the other people. In Singapore, when they go out from their living spaces, it is very hard to see the interaction between the neighbourhood, as they go straight away to another destination. But In this space, they will be able to see different kind of people doing different kind of activities which is to enhance the social interaction.

Seperation between residential and commercial in site

Bridge two community together instead of keep them apart

site background The Tanjong pagar plaza was one of first architecture movement and is among the tallest buildings in Singapore back in the 90’s. Tanjong Pagar Plaza is currently located right smack in the middle of both commercial and residential areas. Tanjong Pagar is currently surrounded by more commercial then residential buildings which creates an identity for the Tanjong Pagar district. The commercial buildings are skyscraper-like and the location of it gives a center of attention to the Tanjong Pagar Plaza which shows a strong contrast of the old and the new

design development The design processes start from a triangular movement flow where it connects both residents and the commercial areas which leads to more design opportunities where we could explore other design elements. Lastly, we decided to bring the experience up from the ground floor to the residents where it creates a mixture of both to have an unique experience.

MODULE FORMATION

The modular dimensions were inspired fromthe shophouses. From there, multiplying the modular creates new spaces and even substracting one modular into half, From 4 Metre by 4 Metre to a 4 Metre by 8 Metre and 4 Metre by 2 Metre. With a combination of all types of modular, it allows different form of interaction depending on the spaces formed Isometric view
