The development of the project began from the drawing of an inner space closed block transformed in an open block that in spite of being a controlled space, is a social building. The public building changes the direction and the existing rule in the urban mesh turning itself in a central element. The whole public building is made of translucent glass that allows the dissolved connection of his interior with the outside. The metal plate applied in this building, and in the remaining housing buildings, allows the privacy of his occupants and at the same time it ties two opposites ideas light/shadow.

The project is located in the Cidade of Lisbon, University Avenue. The intervention asked for the Avenue's entry resolution with a building that filled out the empty existent space qualifying the urban front of the Avenue and of Campo Grande. The project concept arises from the idea of City, because it is an extension of the existent Museu da Cidade and it resolves the urban space in which it is inserted. The building defines a new avenue with a notable entry and a transition space of creased perspective that leads to an open space. The front facing to Campo Grande is an urban door, and the front facing to the Avenue stands out for the public space. The intervention respects the pre-existent space through an organization that avoids the physical straight contact with the palaces, keeping a volumetrical and visual relation.

The high school of Cascais is inserted in a consolidated urban area of housing buildings. The site has an area of approximately 22 630 m2 with a slope of 4 meters from the entry towards the south-west wall. The inclusion of the school in the site arises from volumetric relationship with the surrounding buildings and the relationship with the sloping terrain. The main entry is facing north and allows the students to move in the whole school space through a learning street. The library is the key piece of the school, having a straight access to the community.

The classrooms were southwest orientated for a better use of the natural light. One of the volumes of the classroom crosses the wooded area allowing a visual relation of its spaces with the outside. The exterior spaces gained a relation of the continuity with the qualification of the pine forest zone.

The project concept to the Municipal Swimming pools appears from the existent directions of the place. The direction of the football field oriented North-South is the principal axis used to orientate the biggest volume that dilutes the existent slope. This volume integrates the swimming pools. The direction of the exterior swimming pools is reflected in the volume that integrates the health club and the administration, being a volume in cantilever that allows a bigger permeability from the main square to the exterior swimming pools zone and also allows the visual contact of the inner swimming pools to the outside. The connection element of the two volumes includes the social zones in a courtyard with the reception, shop and bar. This volume allows cross the territory and the cover works like a square of lower dimension connected with the main square in the lower level.

The project is developed through the collaboration with the atelier Arquitectura Lda. The idea results from the principal axles of the involving that creates the volumes and the exterior paths. The materiality of the second skin of the building evokes the ancient presence of industries of the wood of the region and the proximity with the enormous pine forest adjacent to the land of intervention and creates a filter of irregular light for the interior. 3.50
