r ea porcelain cups

REA is a plaster mold randomizer. It is the result of combining cutting edge 3D printing technology with traditional porcelain manufacturing. We used a laser sintering printer to obtain a geometry that could not be produced with any other production method. The printed parts were then cast in plaster creating an articulated mold that can be reproduced following traditional porcelain technique. The machine transforms the mold taking the users effort and applying it differently to each section of the mold, creating a unique piece with every casting. Project developed in colaboration with Juan Angel Cardenas.

motto Our moto behind REA is to redefine mass production. We want to propose unique objects that represent artistic and aesthetic values using emotional design. We present an alternative to mass production that offers unrepeatable objects that although created in series have a human touch that makes them unique. With REA we question today’s manufacturing model and demonstrate that it is possible to create limited series of one-offs applying the aesthetic principles of emotional design.

KTP Knight trainer pro

The KTP is a robot that shoots birdies and allows the user to program a session with specific shots adjusting the direction, angle and speed. The original version was made in a rudimentary manner using Plexiglas and plywood.

The task was to keep the mechanical elements and redesign the robot around them making it suitable for mass production. Assembly line, maintenance and cost were some of the most important aspects to consider during the process. The project was developed initially in team with two other designers and overtime I assumed full responsibility for the KTP. Project developed with SurfaceID.

F XS FLEXSEE

Flexsee is a contact lens case.

It is a case that adapts to the actual needs of the users. Its two main features are the elastic strap and the yin-yang shaped cavity. The straps allows the user to take the case on-the-go while the shape facilitates securing the lens in the fingertips with minimal manipulation.

UEH URBAN ENERGY HARVESTER Bachelor Thesis Project.

The Urban Energy Harvester is a system to collect solar and wind power efficiently. It adapts to any house maximizing the output that the roof area can produce. The system helps the user have a better understanding of their power consumption and production via an interface that illustrates the flow of energy in the system. This will potentially modify the user habits towards a more responsible use of energy.

brd Desk Lamp

Desk lamp inspired by the traditional origami crane, designed with the aim of creating a lamp that allows the user to play with its form and function. The steel lamp houses the lighting compontets while the wooden base contains small magnets along three edges. All these edges have equal angles and thus allow the lamp to sit on multiple positions.
