From an early age I´ve been developing a particular and intense creative relation with video. At a proffesional level, working from a non-comercial art branch, the use may be video the early protagonist of my investigation. Particularlly, using video as a mediatic point of enunciation my investigations stablish a critical relation to propaganda and other power dynamics found in contemporary mediatic discourses. Consequently, as a parallel process, I´ve been researching on text-based art as raw material for a poetic beyond trivial communication.

1982 born in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. 1995-1996 drawing and painting lessons with neoexpressionist Colombian artist Hernando González. 2000-2001 Political Science undergraduate studies 2007 BA in Fine Arts, UJTL, Bogotá. 2010 Master in Semiotics, UJTL, Bogotá. 2013 Intensive chicano crosscultural performance workshop with LPN and Guillemo Gómez-Peña, Tucson, AZ, U.S.A. 2015 Generative Grammar Seminar at Caro y Cuervo Institute, Bogotá. 2017 Solo show at Espacio El Dorado Gallery. 2018 IDARTES Independent Art Proyects Publishing Grant. Since 2007 works as freelance commercial voice-over, librarian, independent videographer, podcaster and youtuber.

Limited edition artist book box set. The S Book is a metaphor for substance as understood from the logical principle praedicatum inest subjecto as found in G.W. Leibniz 1696 Discourse of Metaphysics: every predicate is enclosed within the subject. The S Book is a compilation of selected text based exercises from concrete poetry to logical conceptual writing and also some media based didactic experiments. From verbal architecture to lyrical precarious generative ideas, the book and its content is an intense experimentation with printing media. Several references to art history as well as to semiotics, linguistics and philosophy can be found inside its pages, including references to Charles Sanders Peirce, Roland Barthes, Marshall McLuhan, Noam Chomsky or Ludwig Wittgenstein.

As I find that most of the artistic productions occurs in terms of rather raw or elaborated materialism, a metaphysical approach could stablish a pure conceptual method for conceiving the artwork.

My response to an invitation to show within a bakery shop was to simply make star-shaped red soft cookies. I speak to the baker to make them and specify that I propose as art one hundred cookies to be sold in his bakery shop like normal cookies. The motivation for this action was to make a edible object for consuming ideology as a naive sweet candy. Thinking of the red star as an ambigous figure relating left and right wing iconography.

Video as a borderline performance. I kicked a pair of river stones through several locations in Los à ngeles, California, as an in situ residence project. The river stones were found in a construction site in Bogotå and I took them with me in my luggage, lost one at the ocean at Santa Monica’s beach and return with the lonely one back home.

The routes for kicking the rocks over the city were never premeditated. in certaing moment I wanted to take them to the beach to visit the ocean and accidentally lost one of them swallowed by the tide. That was probably the only sublime experience that I have ever experienced in my life. I also took them to the May Day latino workers parade were I was stopped by the police and asked to leave the place for security reasons.

Video enunciation of an awkward shameful statement in which I use some of the aesthetic and iconography of illegal political groups. The speech is inserted in between 8 compasses of the leit motif of the Colombian national anthem both at the beginning and at the end. “Fellow citizens and mates, comrades: Dear homosexuals, lesbians, ladies, transformers, transgenders, respected negros, indians, white supremacists: I take this opportunity to express that I feel profoundly ashamed. Writing Aktionismus. I cut myself the lines of letters A to M over the skin of my belly. the motivation to do this action of an impotence caused by verbal language. The result is sort of a complex monogram of self-awareness. I also see it as an specific type of ephimeral body modification and a typographical statement.

first video performances as a soccer and commercial announcer. the original footage for this unvoluntary piece is one of the first recordings made with a videocamera within my family. in this particular video almost everyone was a performer in front of the camera.
