andrew C arleton Dear Sir/Madam, I am inquiring about a full-time architectural internship position with your firm. I recently completed my Master of Architecture Degree from Savannah College of Art and Design at the end of August, 2011. I now wish to further pursue design endeavors as a professional career, with the goal of becoming a licensed architect. I am originally from the Indianapolis, Indiana area and completed my four-year Bachelors Degree of Architecture from Ball State University (Muncie, IN) in 2007. Following my undergraduate degree, I worked as an Architectural Intern for fifteen months at Rottmann Architects Inc., a small firm in Indianapolis, Indiana. To diversify my understanding of the profession, I then moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2008, and took a position as an Intern Architect in the Healthcare Studio of Gresham Smith & Partners. My prior duties as an intern architect have included, but are not limited to, being significantly involved in design decisions, creating presentation graphics, attending client meetings, preparing construction documents, and coordinating efforts between all of the trades involved in a variety of corporate, retail, residential and health-care buildings. I began my two-year Master of Architecture candidacy in the Fall of 2009 at Savannah College of Art and Design. During the 2010 Summer, I worked for Britton Building and Design (Zionsville, IN) as an on-site superintendent for two, new, custom residential estate projects. As a project superintendent, I executed physical labor tasks, organized and delegated duties to crews of 2-10 tradesmen, managed building materials, and coordinated government inspections/paperwork. To continue my education and understanding of the building process I am currently employed as an on-site project manager for Carrol Construction in Savannah, Georgia. I see my advancement, knowledge, and development as a designer to be a life long endeavor, and I am excited to implement the skills that I have gained over the previous eight years of higher education and internships to contribute to the success of your organization.
