grand resort
A leading spa and health retreat in Switzerland, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, is set among lush green mountains, clean crisp air and thermal spa water. Only an hour from Zurich, situated in the beautiful foothills of the Alps in eastern Switzerland, it is the perfect location for a health retreat, whether guests are looking for a pampering spa break, a comprehensive check-up or effective health programmes. The resort, which dates back to 1242 when a body-temperature thermal source was discovered, offers an extraordinary and authentic experience at its spa, which encompasses a total of 12,800 square metres. The spa team will launch a new programmes in early 2017 offering re-laxation, deceleration, vitalisation and balance that are more than skin deep for body mind and soul. At the Medical Health Center around 70 specialists in ten disciplines look after the guests’wellbeing. Most popular are treatments related to weight loss, detox, check-ups (e.g. sleep di-agnostics) and beauty.
The weight loss programme combines medical tests, counseling and exercise, and is designed to help guests achieve body satisfaction, a healthy relationship with food, and a feeling of wellbeing. Alternatively, the detox programme promotes holistic cleansing and detoxification to regenerate your body and mind. The ultimate objective is to strengthen your immune system and activate new power, energy and vitality by cleansing your body in a targeted manner. Furthermore, the concept of sheer beauty has always been central to Bad Ragaz’s ethos; whether it be focusing on classic beauty treatments, dermatology and med skin care, or aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. A new laser centre now closes the gap between classic cosmetic treatments and derma-surgeries or interventions available at Bad Ragaz.

THE
SENSE
OF LUXURY
FOR MANY
HAS BECOME
SOMETHING
MORE
PERSONAL
“ When we traditionally think of luxury, we conjure up images of beautifully crafted goods, perhaps from the famous fashion houses of Europe such as Vuitton, Hermes or Prada.
-
This perception of high quality materials skilfully crafted by artisanal hands has become somewhat diluted in recent years as the growth in this sector has led to so many store openings and the product has become so accessible and mass produced, that the purchase may not always carry that same treasured individualistic feeling of creating a special moment. The sense of luxury for many has become something more personal. Instead luxury has moved away from possessions, to time, and memories. We could call this experience based luxury. Today’s affluent population would perhaps rather spend their money doing things than having them. This hunt for a unique experience which we can personally treasure as a memory has become more important than purchasing an item which is no longer unique and today is more commoditized than ever. For instance how many Louis Vuitton bags do you see being carried? Psychologists have researched this and have identified that it is experiences and memories rather than possessions that bring true happiness. Additionally in the realm of sharing and storytelling, it is far more interesting to share an experience of an exotic discovery on your travels than the purchase of the latest Dior bag. In fact, according to a 2014 BCG report, $460 billion is now spent annually on “unique travel adventures”. This amount is in fact triple the amount spent on luxury goods. Travel, can be seen as the ultimate expression of this phenomenon. Not only is travel a way of experiencing new cultures and environments, of enriching your intellect and soul but it is a way of strengthening our ties of family and friendship as you bond over these experiences.

MODERN LUXURY How lux ury b eca m e a n exp er i en ce
In today’s busy world as our jobs and daily lives consume us. Travel, whether resting poolside at an exquisite resort, or exploring the latest frontier or opened up location (Bhutan, Myanmar anyone?) allows us to re-energize our personal relationships as well as ourselves. Create our long term memories and restore the balance of wellness. Holidays are a way that families can connect over the generations, creating memories that all family members, young and old will treasure. In recent years the Luxury goods industry has focussed on growth. In particular on expansion in Asia and the all important China market but it may be time to refocus on the authenticity of the original desire of luxury which is to create something exquisite and precious, to which an emotional bond can be created, and from which memories can be made.

Italy is just simply the timeless and classic destination. There is no other country like Italy, rich with Renaissance architecture, historical ruins and firsthand being a dream destination for its food, soaring mountains, great beaches and beautiful natural scenery.
TIMELESS CLASSIC
Italy
the country of renaissance, Italian experience with best service.
Natural Scenery - Divided by the winding Orcia River, the Val d’Orcia preserves classic Tuscan vistas—villages sitting atop rolling hills blanketed in vineyards and olive groves. A strong agricultural tradition across the valley has ensured the land remains undeveloped. Soaring Mountains - Jutting raggedly into the sky, Italy’s northeastern border hosts the Dolomites part of the Southern Limestone Alps. Great Beaches - The Amalfi Coast is widely regarded as Italy's most scenic stretch of coastline, a landscape of towering bluffs, pastel-hued villages, precipitous corniche roads, luxuriant gardens and expansive vistas over turquoise waters and green-swathed mountains, or the lights lining the banks of Lake Como, as seen from Monte San Primo in Lombar-dy. After visiting the lake in 1875, composer Franz Liszt remarked: “When you write about two happy lovers, let the story be set on the banks of Lake Como"

borgo egnazia
belmond hotel cipriani
Like a breathing tale of Puglia spoken by the sheer beauty of its nonpareil architecture, Borgo Egnazia is a true Nowhere Else place. Borgo Egnazia is far from a resort, it represents rather a new concept of hospitality. Its creation was inspired by the beautiful Apulian land where it was born, a striking architectural force that revels the magic of Puglia with contemporary and unique style.
Your exquisite retreat on stunning Giudecca Island with incredible views of Venice’s picturesque lagoon, and a rich history of over 50 years of glamour and legend. Surrounded by beauty and charm, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is a destination that offers endless possibilities. For a taste of pure Venetian style, Palazzo Vendramin is a 15th century palace that offers the best panoramas of Venice and St. Mark’s Square, and is connected to the main building by a flowered passageway.
Borgo Egnazia is located in the heart of Apulia, immersed among the ancient olive groves of the Itria valley and only steps away from the crystal blue Adriatic Sea of Savelletri. The gastronomical options in this region of Apulia are especially rich and varied: the fruit/vegetable and bovine selection from the vast and verdant farmland, together with the fish of the day, available from the nearby port of Savelletri, complete the Mediterranean diet typical of this region.
The hotel’s main building is located around the Olympic-size swimming pool and curated Casanova gardens, with gorgeous vistas of the open lagoon. The spacious Palladio Suite is the main building’s top suite, with unparalleled 180-degree views of the open lagoon from picturesque floor-to-ceiling windows. Enjoy a private entrance to the hotel via your exclusive dock and cool off in the plunge pool on your personal terrace, complete with Jacuzzi.
Italian traditions mean that Sunday is the day of the week to enjoy good food and share time with your family. It’s a day to relax, have fun and be surrounded by the atmosphere of a place that speaks of Puglia and tells of traditions and stories from a region that is fascinating and beautiful all year round.
The finest cuisine and contemporary design meet at Belmond Hotel Cipriani. Awaken your senses at Oro Restaurant with imaginative creations by acclaimed Chef Davide Bisetto. Enjoy a selection of fine vintage wines in the Enoteca La Via della Sete, and be inspired by the stunning décor by Adam Tihany. Wonderfully glamorous yet informal, Cip’s Club has earned an international reputation and boasts unparalleled views of St. Mark’s Square both by day and by night.

gora kadan
Aman Tokyo is a monument to the modern-day Japanese capital, a place where urban dynamism is tempered with serenity. Set in Otemachi, the hotel is within easy reach of Tokyo Station and the thriving Nihonbashi district. An exclusive sanctuary high above Japan’s cosmopolitan capital, Aman Tokyo is Aman’s first urban concept hotel, situated adjacent to the Otemachi Forest. Offering bird’s eye views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and surrounding Tokyo landmarks, the hotel features a serene Aman Spa and a peaceful inner garden. Surrounded by engawa, a wooden feature dividing the inside and out, the soaring lobby rises nearly 30 metres. The Restaurant by Aman specialises in cuisine from Italy’s Veneto region on the Adriatic Sea. Local vegetables, meats and seafood pair with the finest imported Italian ingredients, and the dishes – like Japan itself – benefit from the proximity of sea, plains and mountains. The Restaurant, open to guests and non-residents, boasts views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and Mt Fuji. By night, a panorama of the city shimmers before diners. Aman Spa Tokyo features large Japanese-style hot baths and steam rooms, a light-filled 30-metre pool with panoramic city views, a world-class fitness centre with the latest cardiovascular and weight-training machinery, and dedicated yoga and Pilates studios. The Japanese approach to wellness stems from nature and the concept of balance. Aman Spa Tokyo draws on this wisdom – fusing kampo herbal therapies, Zen philosophy, and meditation with facilities for movement and relaxation. The extensive treatments, using natural ingredients and Aman’s own chemical-free products for programmes tailored to individual needs.
Gora Kadan is not a hotel, but instead, a traditional Japanese Ryokan. Located on the grounds of the former summer villa of a member of the Imperial family, the building and facilities have earned high praise for its design, being in harmony with the nearby mountains, blending Japanese tradition along with modern design elements. Since 1981, Gora Kadan has been a member of Relais & Chateaux, the French association synonymous with first class standards among the most demanding and well-travelled jetsetter. We are honoured to host guests from all over the world, and in 2002, were awarded the coveted Welcome Trophy by Relais & Chateaux, in recognition of high customer satisfaction and high standards of service. Gora Kadan has two wells from which mineral rich, hot spring water flows and feeds the open-air baths. The minerals contained in the spring water are regarded as having many healthy qualities promoting general good health, and also, smooth, soft skin. A stay in Gôra Kadan, the former retreat of the Imperial Family, Kanin-no-miya, situated in the heart of Hakone National Park, is an invitation to bring your five senses to life by immersing yourself in the ancient Japanese way of life. Listen to the gentle swoosh of a sliding wall made of rice paper, smell the fragrant flower incense, taste the traditional Kaiseki cuisine and feel the touch of silk. This calm retreat is located in an area known for its springs, which are heated by volcanic rocks. The suites have been designed in a minimalist style, and the hotel’s facilities include a swimming pool, a spa, and a beauty salon.

Beyond the legendary Camelot years, our strongest recollection of the celebrated beauty is as the wife of Aristotle Onassis, for a period the richest man in the world. Onassis seduced the woman who at that time was probably the most famous in the world, and would no doubt be in the top 5 even today. Despite having at her disposal her husband’s Yacht and private island Skorpios, the jet set destination that many will associate with Jackie O is the forever glamorous island of Capri. The exclusive holiday destination visited many times over the years by Jackie is spectacularly nestled in the bay of Naples. Capri’s romantic spirit is enhanced by the scent of lemon blossoms and fresh sea air. The idyllic getaway’s centre is traffic free and the island is best traversed on foot. Leave your car on the mainland, and take the ferry across the Bay of Naples and you will be struck by the luminescence of the Blue Grotto. Capri, entirely limestone rises to two peaks. Capri at 1,000 feet and Anacapri at 2,000 feet. Jackie would be joined there with many of the most iconic and famed individuals of the period. Intellectuals such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Graham Greene would rub shoulders with movie stars including Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren alongside many other members of the exclusive global jet set club such as Lily Safra, Gianni Agnelli and the Shah of Iran. In July and August, at the height of the Italian summer, Capri is in full swing, the Piazzetta isthronged with tourists, including many day trippers and the harbour buzzes with the many yachts of the super rich anchored there. Spring and autumn may be quieter and with more reasonable prices, but there is more possibility of changeable weather.

The hotel was founded in 1861 by a British doctor who was convinced that the islands climate had health inducing properties. The name Quisisana means “here one heals”. However it was soon realized that the hotel was far more popular with tourists and thus transitioned to become one of the world’s top hotels. Today this iconic Grande Dame is considered the jewel in Capri’s crown. Jackie Onassis is today remembered for her timeless style which has been emulated by many of the worlds women. The Island of Capri, where she would experience real joy and peace is still today one of the most visually spectacular and elegant places to holiday. When not aboard the Onassis yacht, Jackie would frequently reside at the hotel Quisisana. One of Italy’s legendary and iconic hotels the Quisisana is a true landmark. The property is located on Via Camerelle, where top designers sit alongside the workshops of local artisans. The elegant, light filled rooms are simply decorated primarily in white to provide the perfect backdrop against the lush greens and blues of the medditeranean landscape.

A century of history
This elegant Napoleonic III style mansion was initially called Villa Soleil by Auguste de Villemessant, the founder of “Le Figaro” newspaper in 1870.
That same year he and some friends began building works. His dream was to create a retreat for artists and writers. He finished the restoration within the year and the Villa Soleil opened its doors. However for many years afterwards the building remained obscure, vacant and forgotten. In 1887 Built in 1914, the Eden-Roc Pavilion was originally the tea-room of the Grand Hotel du Cap, much favoured by Kings, maharajahs, businessmen and artists living on Cap d’Antibes. It was around that time that the famous seawater pool was hollowed out of the basalt rock.
