GREAT AUTUMN CAMPING DESTINATIONS IN THE US Andrew Elsoffer

One of the best parts about going camping is how it allows you to connect with nature, and one of the best times to do this is in the autumn.

While the temperature starts to drop in most places, it also presents an opportunity to see the wilderness in a different light, one that features the magnificent colors of the falling leaves and much more. There are a lot of great places to go camping in the US in the autumn, so here are a few recommendations.

Acadia National Park, Maine

One of the most iconic places in the country to experience the outdoors is Acadia National Park, which is known for its beautiful autumn colors. The leaves start to change colors at the beginning of September, which allows people to see the full range of colors. There are three campsites in the park, including the one at the Seawall, which is open yearround. The other two campsites, the Schoodic Woods and the Blackwoods, are also available through Columbus Day.

Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

The Crater Lake was formed during an ancient volcanic eruption. It reaches a depth of over 1,900 feet, and it has an amazing view. There are a variety of hiking trails within the park, and a peaceful section of the Pacific Crest Trail is also nearby. If you are planning on camping in an RV or tent, you can pick a site at the Mazama campground, which is open through the end of September. It doesn’t have any hookups, but it has plenty of space and bathrooms. If you have a tent, you can also camp at the Lost Creek campground, which is open until mid-October.

White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire

New Hampshire is a beautiful destination that anyone interested in nature should visit during the fall season. The White Mountain National Forest is a great place to go camping in the fall if you want to see the beautiful colors of the leaves. It is also a historical site that has plenty to offer. There are various camping options in the national forest, such as designated campsites in the Pemigewasset, Saco, and the Androscoggin ranger districts. In the Saco Ranger District, there are three cabin rentals available. In the backcountry, dispersed camping is allowed up to 200 feet from bodies of water and trails.

Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming

The Grand Tetons are a beautiful region in Wyoming, and it is also a great place to go camping in the fall.

There are a variety of activities that can be done in the area, such as horseback riding, rafting, and hiking. If you are looking for a more traditional camping experience, you can choose to camp at the developed campsites. Some of the best places to stay are the Flagg Ranch and the Headwaters campground.

Thanks!
