INTRODUCTION
Introduction Jord designs, manufactures, commissions and services custom-engineered process equipment, modular systems and turnkey plant to the global process industries. The oil and gas industry represents around 50% of Group annual revenue. Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1972, Jord has enjoyed over four decades of stable, private ownership. The key to its prosperity and longevity rests with its loyal staff, conservative fiscal policies, robust management systems and a diversified technical, industrial and geographical reach.

FORMATIVE YEARS

Formative Years Jord’s service to the oil and gas industry commenced in the 1970’s, with regular supply of heat transfer equipment such as air coolers to the Australian petroleum refineries of Shell, Exxon and Caltex (now Chevron). Jord’s first growth phase was a succession of orders secured in the early 1980’s, for landmark projects that attracted strong international competition. Chief amongst them were orders from Houston based EPC Contractors Davy McKee & Fluor Daniel to supply large air cooler trains for Australia’s first gas processing & liquids recovery plants being developed by Santos and Exxon respectively.

Formative Years Shortly thereafter, Jord began accumulating complimentary technology, beginning with gas scrubbing in the 1980’s and steadily broadening over subsequent decades to various gas, condensate and produced water treatment systems. Examples of process systems delivered to the oil & gas industry are as varied as seawater sulphate treatment for an Angolan offshore platform, hydrocracker feed filters to a Malaysian refinery, lube oil modules for a Thai gas plant and Condensate Dewatering and Fuel Gas Treatment systems for an Indian FPSO.

MODULAR SUPPLY

Modular Supply Jord’s first EPC plant was an activated carbon regeneration plant supplied in the 1980’s. An ever increasing percentage of Jord technology is delivered in modular form, with the advantage to the customer of a reduced installed price, cycle time and risk. The images on this page show a 3D design and subsequent workshop production image of 1,500 tonnes of gas scrubber, piperack and lube oil cooling modules that Jord supplied for 7 x 14MW gas turbine compressor trains delivered to a LNG gas gathering plant.

GLOBAL EXPANSION

IDEAS ENGINEERED
Global Expansion From a very Australian beginning, Jord has evolved into a truly international organisation, with offices in 10 countries and over 80% of its business conducted outside Australia. Cultural diversity has been a cornerstone of Jord’s success. Our technical staff, many dozens of whom have reached 10, 20, 30 and now even 40 year service milestones, span 25 nationalities and speak 40 languages.

GAS FIELD DEVELOPMENT
PAGE 11
IDEAS ENGINEERED Gas Field Development A new business unit, Jord Oil and Gas Systems(“JOGS) was established in 2012. Based in The Netherlands, the team comprises staff with 20+ years of relevant industry experience. The JOGS Division focuses on offshore gas platform topside development and onshore gas compression and processing systems. In its first year JOGS quickly established itself, alliancing with Bumi Armada (Malaysia) to supply condensate and gas treatment modules to a Shapoorji FPSO in India. Most recently, JOGS formed an alliance with independent Mexican gas developer Nuvoil, to supply a 2,000 ton Topside Jack Up module to reduce flare gas emissions and extend the life of a Pemex offshore gas field. Scope comprises five Siemens GT compressor trains, three gas process modules and various metering, condensate separator, fuel gas and HP/LP flare system packages. Financed via an innovative lease arrangement, The Jack Up rig is designed to be movable to other fields during its lifetime.

FUTURE
Compression Module

Future Together with its Alliance Partners, Jord is developing various FEED concepts to cope with the ongoing field depletions, to reduce gas flaring and its associated environmental burden and to maintain oil production by means of boosting or injecting associated gas or produced water. In these instances, it is essential to take into account the limitations of the existing facilities. Amongst other such projects, Jord has been developing a 20,000 ton topside with Booster and Export compression for injection in the adjacent field to increase oil production and reduce environmental emissions. This will be installed by means of a float-over method.

JORD FOUNDATION
Jord Foundation The Jord Environment Trust (“JET) was established in 2007 with a charter to donate funds to international causes that help foster a biologically diverse and sustainable planet. As at 2014, almost $2 million of capital has been accumulated, the interest from which is being donated to various Not-for-Profit causes. Most recently, JET supplied pro-bono EPC services and funding to deliver various clean water and clean (solar) energy projects to nature reserves being managed in outback Australia by the world renowned Bush Heritage Trust. Other projects include cyclone relief in the Philippines and sustainable development in Cambodia.
