Dear Friends:
It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone as the Skyline Charitable Foundation (SCF) hosts its 16th annual Charitable Golf Classic.
The five boroughs are a proud hub for commercial innovation and business, and when these enterprises succeed, they often give back to their communities. Skyline Restoration, a building repair and reconstruction company based in Queens, exemplified this generous spirit when it hosted its first annual Charitable Golf Classic in 2009 and in 2014, formally established its foundation. These friendly competitions of sportsmanship and stupendous swings raise funds for a diverse array of benevolent organizations, including African Soul American Heart (ASAH), a school for orphaned young women in South Sudan; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which helps mentally and physically injured service members embark on their healing journeys. This group has also bolstered my Administration’s efforts to curb food insecurity through its Relief Access Program for the Bronx (Rap4Bronx) mobile pantry and initiatives with likeminded partners, as well as its political advocacy in the fight against hunger. On the occasion of today’s highly -anticipated tournament, and in recognition of its 10th anniversary in operation, I am pleased to recognize SCF for its unwavering devotion to the principles of fair and fun play, philanthropy, and mutual uplift.
On behalf of 8.3 million New Yorkers, please accept my best wishes for a joyous and meaningful event.
Sincerely,
Eric Adams Mayor
Supporting Our Communities
In March 2020, as the world faced unprecedented challenges, we instantly mobilized our network of construction and restoration company resources to rescue and distribute thousands of pounds of food and goods to underserved neighborhoods. The Relief Access Program for The Bronx (RAP4Bronx) was born during this time of crisis, delivering more than 4 million pounds of nutritious food and prepared meals to date to a network that has grown from working with 10 communitybased organizations to more than 50 in The Bronx. When grocery stores, shops, and restaurants closed their doors, The Skyline Charitable Foundation was there, ensuring that people had access to food safely and consistently.
Cultivating Community Wellness
Launched in 2023 with initial support from the Markets, Harvesting Health Markets (HHM) free farmers markets and wellness fairs designed to increase access to nutrientdense foods and nutrition education resources.
These markets primarily serve low-income households in Bronx, Queens, and as of this year, Brooklyn neighborhoods that are disproportionately impacted by the inequities of the food supply chain. The program aims to not just feed communities, but educate and bolster them, providing residents a direct connection to the sources of their food - with fresh fruits and vegetables grown from New York State BIPOC, women, and small and midsize farmers!
FOOD JUSTICE AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Cultivating a Just and Equitable Food Supply Chain
Launched this year with initial funding from the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets, Feed TriBoro is a wholesale and transportation network designed to support underserved New York State producers by connecting them to the New York City market. This innovative program cultivates a just and equitable supply chain, ensuring locally grown foods reach commercial and nonprofit entities as well as distressed communities in the city.
Feed TriBoro addresses food justice along the supply chain by fostering collaboration among underserved farmers, community-based organizations, and commercial entities. Over the next three years, TSCF aims to elevate Feed TriBoro into a premier direct service program through extensive outreach, engagement, and strategic planning. By supporting local producers and providing access to local, healthy goods, we work to create new avenues for farms to reach the New York City market, ultimately benefiting the entire community.
The Skyline Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Andromeda Community Initiative (ACI) have launched the New York Clean Energy Internship Program which allows qualified companies to host trained and certified interns. The program, through which participants carry out assignments related to clean energy is offered at no cost to employers, covering all costs related to training, internship salary/payroll, insurance, and program support, under a grant from NYSERDA
All interns complete ACI’s full-time two-month program with extensive certifications and hands-on experience. Graduates receive the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour Safety Certification (OSHA-30), the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) 10-hour Site Safety Training, DOB 16-hour Suspended and 4-hour Supported Scaffolding certifications, Green Professionals (GPRO) Mechanical (energy efficiency HVAC operations), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) EPA 608 Type I (safe handling of refrigerants) and instructor certifications in Green Building Operations and Management and Green Construction.
Beyond this, the program provides dozens of hours of hands-on training in general construction, measurement activities, wall construction and framing, dry wall installation and repair, insulation installation, simple circuit, series wiring, toilet and faucet repair, air tent, TRVs and steam traps as well standard masonry/work to seal the building envelope and prevent energy loss. ACI is an expert training provider with hundreds of successful graduates.
