Lamenters Assault Marine Step-by-step tutorial In this tutorial I will try to focus on the detailed color recipe, skipping all the introduction, technique explaining (unless I introduce a new technique, but they are all basically the same). If you need to read again about how I apply glazing or shading, just go look in the Lamenters tutorial! What's different in this tutorial are colors used, not the techniques!

Painting the miniature 1.) I started from basecoating the entire miniature by a Citadel Codex Grey paint. I applied it using airbrush, which isn't really necessary, but I find it just shorten the time and makes it much easier to cover the entire model with an equaly thin coat of paint. There is no necessity to use the airbrush, Citadel Primer Spray will work just as well if applied carefully. For painting the main black armor, I used mostly Andrea Black Paint Set. As with all the Andrea paint sets it consists of 6 different shades of one color. Later on I will be adding some Citadel colors for shading/glazing stages.

Pic.1 ----> I started from applying several layers of Andrea Black Paint Set (ABPS) base/1st shadow 50/50 mix. I tried to cover the light basecoat as well as possible to create an opaque and even base for further working.

Pic.2 -----> Time to apply the shadows. I mixed the previous basecoat with ABPS 2nd shadow in a 50/50 mix in two consecutive coats of diluted paint. For the deep shadows I mixed ABPS 2nd and 3rd shadow in a 50/50 mix in two consecutive coats. I use only the thinnest brush and very careful aplication in the precise areas. I am not trying to be overly precise at this stage. It is always possible to correct any mistakes later on, the only exception are the deepest shadows.

Pic.3 ----> After the shadows are done it is now time to apply highlights For the first highlights I used a mix of ABPS base/1st hughlight 50/50 mix. I applied it in the general areas where I imagined the light might fall. I tried to be more accurate this time then with the shadows For the second highlights I mixed ABPS 1st highlights/second highlights/Space Wolves Grey in a 50/25/25 mix. This time I narrowed the area on which I applied the paint and tried to be even more accurate. For the final highlights (lining and spot highlights) I added 25% of Menoth White Highlight (P3 Formula) to the previous mix.

Pic.4 ----> I started this stage from glazing some colors into the black armor in order to make it more interesting. First mix: ABPS base/Lich Purple ------------> 75/25mix applied mostly in shadows Second mix: ABPS base/Graveyard Earth ---->50/50 mix, applied mostly in midtones The second stage was the metallics. I basecoated all the metal parts with 2 consecutive coats of Chainmail. After that was done I prepered the shadow mix: Satin Varnish/Black Glaze(Vallejo)/Grey Pigment/Glaze Medium I applied two coats of the mix and waited for it to set for about 5 min.

I continued to work on the metallics. For the second stage of shadows I used a mix of Brown Ink/Blue Ink ------> 50/50 After 3-4 consecutive coats, I applied 2 layers of Scorched Brown/Dark Flesh ------->75/25 mix to the exhaust and in some other places to make the metals look more weathered. In the same time I started painting the wheel. The basecoat and shadows are identical to the black armor. For the highlight stage I mixed ABPS base/Kommando Khaki --------> 50/50 mix

I reaplied the midtones/highlights on metallics using a mix of Verdigris Glaze(Vallejo)/Metallic Medium(Vallejo)/Glaze Medium. I used a careful glazing technique with high precision for this stage For the final edge highlight I used Plate Silver (Mr Color) for a extra shine effect. This metalizer is much more shiny than any metallic paint! I applied final highlights to the tire of the wheel. For that purpose I added about 25% of Menoth White Highlight to the previous mix. For the midtones stage I mixed ABPS base/Graveyard Earth/Light Ochre Pigment (Andrea) ------->50/40/10 mix

Pic.10,11 I painted the freehands using the Andrea White Paint Set Range (6 different shades of white). For the basecoat I used AWPS 1st shadow paint. After it was carefully painted I used a mix of AWPS 2nd and 3rd highlight ---------> 50/50 mix for outlining the highlights

Pic.13,14 I painted the scratches using a mix of ABPS 2nd and third shadow -------> 50/50 mix. I used the tip of my finest brush for this stage to make the scratches as thin and realistic looking as possible.

Pic.16,17 I underlined the scratches with a mix of ABPS 1st highlight and Skull White ----------> 80/20 mix. Again I used my finest brush and put extra effort to make the line appear even thiner and finer than the sxratches itself. The strsight scratch lines were painted using the same mix and technique.

Pic 18 I painted the eyes and the screen on the bike using a mix of Scab Red /Dark Flesh in a 50/50 mix. After that I added 25% Blazing Orange to the basecoat in two consecutive layers. The lines on the screen had been painting with the highlights/Bleached Bone 50/50 mix.
