During my undergraduate studies, I have participated in several architectural competitions and achieved satisfactory results From these experiences in architecture competitions, I have developed the ability to communicate well with others and to manage and control the progress of competing projects. During the master's studies, I used Arduino and coding to design interactive buildings and successfully created devices that could interact with people. I have not only gained new knowledge of architectural design and design-related software technology, but I have also further developed my self-learning skills. I also believe that my diligence and communicative qualities will allow me to adapt very well to the high-pressure work environment Besides, throughout my student experience in architecture, I have experimented with the design of architectural projects of different program types and scales, especially at the master’s level, but also to challenge and explore new areas of architecture (interactive architecture, sustainable consumer architecture). This drive and courage to approach and challenge new things stems from my love and obsession with architectural design, a quality that I believe allows me to be always perfect in my work.
My experience and educational background have prepared me to deliver real value to XLMS I have attached a copy of my CV and portfolio for your review and I would like the opportunity to further demonstrate my interest in the position by discussing my skills and background in more detail with you at your convenience. In the architectural learning experience from 2021 to 2022 in ARCH5110B Studio, I I worked on and designed three projects : the moving stairs (responsive structure), emotional armor (wearable device), "garden"&"cemetery" (emotional architecture). From these projects, I re-examine architecture from a new perspective, and perceive space through the current advanced technology. And finally designed the architectural space with emotion. The architecture of the future will be advanced and emotional.
In the architectural learning experience from 2022 to 2023 in ARCH5110/6110F Studio, I I worked on and designed three projects : LEGO production process research(Global supply chain), New LEGO factory (Supply chain in TsingYi), "Plastic"&"floating" algae plastic package factory(New industrial space). From these projects, I re-examine architecture from a new perspective, and perceive space through the research and 3D model. And finally designed the architectural space with production and new building material-plastic. The industrial space of the future will be interesting and sustainable.

“Human thinking is merging with the world of machine intelligence that the human species initially created.” (Kurzweil, Ray. 2000. The Age of Spiritual Machines : When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence. N.p.: New York: Penguin Books.)
In the era of rising technology, personalization is implemented in our social media platforms, what if projecting personalization to the architectural world. In this project, we are questioning the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence to guide people in different directions according to various personal data in buildings and urban scales.

This project explores the topic in three sections: the ways to categorize a person from psychological aspects and dailies(1), demonstrating the idea of providing direct guidance through a responsive structure (2), foreseeing the urban circulation after applying the former technique (3).
The first part explores different criteria in dividing people into various groups from psychological theories and current observations. In terms of psychological theories, “four distinctive personalities types” by Nature Human Behaviour, “five-factor model traits” by McCrae & Costa, Myers–Briggs Type Indicator are explored. From social media platforms, the methodologies of proposing personal advertisement interests are explored. From the above research, a responsive structure that guides people’s direction is developed.
The second part develops the project by producing a 1:1 structure that illustrates the idea of providing various personal experiences during circulation. Three dates are collected from visitors in order to provide them with different spatial experiences, including the walking pace, temperature, and Instagram hashtags. Firstly, visitors will pass through an infrared sensor to identify their temperature. Then, an ultrasonic device will calculate the person’s walking pace. At last, visitors’ Instagram accounts can be analyzed with a python script, and the most frequently used hashtags are known. With these data, visitors can experience different journeys by opening or closing the fan, listening to various music, and rotating their directions.
The third part deduces how to apply the idea of the above responsive structure in the future. It is foreseeable that the way guiding could apply in architecture and urban aspects. In architecture, it could combine with different applications in order to improve the quality of life, for instance, corporate with the person’s schedule and health condition to analyze the best route. On an urban scale, the technology could apply to society in order to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Emotional Armor

How to convey emotion under "MASK" ?
Wearable Device Abstracts II
Human nature means that people long for attention from and communication with others. This seems easy for extroverts, but introverts are often unable to confidently convey their emotions and thoughts, so they often feel lonely, psychologically and physically uncomfortable, and become more and more withdrawn and even depressed. In fact, introverts also desire that someone can understand their inner world, but don't necessarily know how to express this. Additionally, the pandemic has meant that wearing masks creates further separation between people. People are unable to read people's faces as easily due to half of the face being covered. So, this design hopes to help, allowing people to express their inner state through this device (emotional armor).

This design uses EEG to detect individuals' mind waves to judge different states of individuals, and uses LED matrix to display different pixel emojis to represent the current state of people. Furthermore, this logic can also be further extended to urban use. By detecting building data, different colors are used to display different states of buildings.

How to face "death" and "life" ?

As the population grows and ages, more and more people die each year. However, how the dead should be buried has become a controversial issue in contemporary society.
Death is usually a taboo for human either in everyday life or in some religions. This makes death even darker and scarier. However, death is an important part of a individuals' life. Death makes life more meaningful. Life and death are just a cycle. When people break the taboo against death and face death, death will become as meaningful as birth.
In fact, in Chinese culture, there are many ancient festivals, not only the living will celebrate the festival, but also cherish the memory of the dead, by burning paper money, sharing feasts and accompanying the deceased in front of the memorial tablet in these festivals. They can enjoy the time as if these people are still with them, just in this world in the form of souls. Celebrating festivals with deceased relative has also become a kind of relief from the missing of the loved one.
So being able to build a cemetery that serves both the living, and their dead relatives became the core issue of this design study, providing them with a place to celebrate festivals and company and mourn their dead relatives.
In Hong Kong, land use is very tight due to policies, its own geographical conditions, and its high degree of urbanization. Much of the land is undeveloped and original ecology. However, the ageing population of Hong Kong is also particularly acute, and in this case, vertical and dense cemeteries are everywhere in Hong Kong. These cemeteries often make people feel depressed and frightened. There are even some people who can only choose to buy a small urn for themselves because they have no way to pay the high cost of the cemetery.
This design creates a place of life and death by integrating a vertical urban park and a vertical cemetery. Individuals can feel the power of life here and experience the depth of death. Trees will be the home of people after death, and they will continue to live in this world as they grow, with their loved ones. This cemetery is not only a place of private mourning and family affection, but also a highly open urban park, so that the cemetery is not a place that residents are afraid of because of its depression and gloom but will be an urban stage full of vigour and vitality. The cemetery will be for a touch of green in the city and tell the story of the city.

The background of the site

The site is located near the Lowu MTR station in Hong Kong, opposite Shenzhen city, where there is a large area of undeveloped land. Then before, the Hong Kong government planned to build a super cemetery here, but this caused dissatisfaction among Shenzhen residents on the other side. In addition to the new future urban planning, this area was used as a connecting area with Shenzhen. This will be the new CBD of the future. So ,the project was stopped. However, want to interpret the cemetery through a new language, so that it can be a positive, warm place in the city, coexisting harmoniously with its residents. So,I still chose this area as the site for a completely subversive cemetery design.
