PICTURE UNRELATED DRAWINGS BY EUI MIN JUNG
“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
Dimensions : 30” x 36” Materials: Pen & Pencil
Self-Portrait Drawing The two items are irrelevant to each other, but they both teach me a lesson that the past can never be brought back. Every day we strive to achieve something, working day and night, barely catching up our breaths. But sometimes, it is important to just sit back and reminisce what we’ve achieved, and what we have gone through.
RELATING UNRELATED The challenging part of this assignment began with choosing two objects that are disassociated and frivolous at the same time. Documentation of Process
Film Camera
Wood Case
Taking a photo is more than just a memory because that moment can never be brought back. Back in high school, I was interested in photography, and it was a real “dream come true” when I bought my first film camera. This experience ultimately led me into design and architecture but as the smartphone technology advance, I gradually spent less time with my film camera, eventually left in my room untouched for years.
This wooden case was an ornament from my grandfather. It has a very unique style that’s rather uncomfortable to place it in your room. It doesn’t function well as a case either, because the part where it actually acts as a case is too small. I had it with me since when I was a kid, thus I could not throw it out. Although I thank my grandfather for this gift, this ornament has also been sitting in my room for years, untouched.

Idea Sketches
We all have objects that are no longer useful, but problematic to throw out because it has a story. The two objects that I chose to be in the selfie are like that. This film camera was once my most valuable, and expensive item but it is not a tool to carry around anymore due to rapidly advancing technology. The wooden case was a gift from my grandfather, and I remember having erasers and small toys in it when I was a child. Nowadays it’s just taking up spaces in my room. However I cannot throw it out because it is a gift from my grandfather who is not here with me anymore.
