創作自述
不管是傳說，還是詭異的自然現象與天災，都讓人生活在末日警 示的狀態下，內心總是充滿不安與惶恐，惦記著很多未完成的事 、未被滿足的慾望與未達成的理想，所以作品中都彌漫著這樣的 心情，情緒五味雜成。當「末日」漸漸成為了一種心理狀態時， 更能夠重新檢視自己與周遭的關係，並挖掘內心最深層、赤裸的 一面。 作品對於恐懼與慾望做了不同的詮釋，利用不同的人物或意象， 描繪出兩者的化身與象徵，晦暗的氛圍，給予了自我省思的空間 。主要能夠藉這次展覽，期許在人生的有效期限內，能夠更坦然 面對與認識自己。作品充滿故事性與幽默，開放觀者自我闡釋。 彩色與黑白的風格對比，模擬個體與外在渾沌的衝擊，期望帶給 觀者一種特殊、充滿奇想的心靈與視覺體驗。
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As the world is facing its impending doom, we are left with anxiety and fear. “The end of the world” is not only an inevitability, but also a state of mind that has been haunting us in various ways. With all the unusual and tragic natural occurrences, we are constantly reminded of how very little time we have left on the earth. However, we react in different ways that sometimes surprise ourselves. I’d like to portray such an intriguing mindset by digging deep inside myself. I explore this “apocalyptic state of mind” through themes of desire, fear, gender and various opposing dualities such as good vs. evil, black & white vs. colors. The color scheme and elements of gender and unisex is a way to express an idea of clashing entities and individuals, much like the clash of nature and mankind. Aside from the dark ambience, fantastical elements and humor, there’s a story behind every work, but I’d like to leave it all open to interpretations, as much of what finally ended up on the canvas came from a subconscious realm, where I may or may not even have taken notice of its existence until it surfaced through all the strokes. It’s nice to see my works take on different meanings and interpretations with different individuals. I’d like to think they sort of “grow” and “expand” in others’ head. This exhibition is ultimately an emotional and perhaps, personal, reflection of an universal mindset that creeps in us on a daily basis, whether we acknowledge it or not. Hopefully the works, despite drenched in a seemingly bleak mood, can conjure up in viewers a more honest emotional response towards “THE END”.
