Get to Know Us.
We are... 1. An accidental business.
We were founded in 2019. Anecdote began as a side project when our founder was getting migraines from the candles in her apartment. After a lot of tinkering and one tradeshow, the brand was picked up by Nordstrom, Macy’s, Anthropologie, and other national accounts that same year.
2. Female-owned and operated.
We are a fully bootstrapped operation that has grown more than 10x since its inception. Our small team is here to help you make all your candle dreams come true!
3. Based in Brooklyn, NY.
All of our candles are designed, produced, and ultimately shipped out of our 10,000 square-foot facility in the heart of Sunset Park in Brooklyn, New York.
And our candles are...

Step 2: Write the Story. It’s more than a name, it’s an anecdote. The next step is your chance to express your brand. A. Name it!
A maximum of fifteen characters including spaces.
B. Write the anecdote! A maximum of 40 characters, including spaces and excluding the words ’smells like’. Even when developing our own in-house products, we always start with the story before designing the scent. We think that is the best way to make your anecdote memorable. Tips for Writing a Candle-worthy Anecdote: 1. Try to pair two intangible things - e.g, “your brand and marketing plan”. This is your chance to showcase your brand! 2. Avoid using any references to fragrances here. It will be confusing when we add the fragrance description in the next step. 3. If you do have a fragrance in mind, think about how that may tie into your anecdote. For example, “spicy banter” and “fresh gossip,” have similar sentiments - but translate to very different fragrances.
16
Step 3: Select the Scent. Once we write the story, it’s time to translate it into a scent. You can select from six of our core scents that span a range of fragrance families. We encourage you to think about how the fragrance connects back to your anecdote, and we’re happy to offer some assistance! When selecting a fragrance, think about the purpose of your candle and how the fragrance ties back to the copy. We included some pointers to help you get started.

Transform your brand with a scent and a story.
When selecting a fragrance, think about the purpose of your candle and how the fragrance ties back to the copy. It’s less about the actual fragrance notes and more about the feelings it emotes. Our team is also happy to share some suggestions based on your anecdote!
