POLISH CUISINE
Among the countless reasons to be exceptionally proud of Poland, the cuisine is probably our number one. The most popular Polish dishes are: pierogi (dumplings), kotlet schabowy (type of breaded steak), bigos (a mix of cabbage, meat and mushrooms), gołąbki (cabbage leaves stuffed with rice and meat), rosół (chicken soup), zupa ogórkowa (cucumber soup – it is really sour!!!) and żurek (sour wheat-based soup served with egg and sausage).
You'll definitely have the opportunity to try some!
CURRENCY
Poland’s legal tender is called “ złoty” (zł or PLN). 1 zł = 100 groszy. Cash payments will only be accepted in złotys, however credit and debit cards are also widely accepted. There are two basic ways to obtain some Polish currency:
1. Exchange your own local currency in any bank on your arrival. You will find that the cashiers will exchange your money with no further explanation required.
2. The other way to go about it is simply withdrawing the required sum from an automatic cash machine (ATM). All you need is a bank account and a payment card (Visa, Mastercard or any payment card bearing the Cirrus logo).
Cost of the Exchange: 350 euro (includes accomodation, one meal per day, big part of the social programme, transportation between and within the cities) Number of participants: up to 10 Date: 1st – 29th July 2018
Eligibility criteria:
- a medical student or graduate less than 6 months ago, - a member of a National Member Organisation of the IFMSA, - be able to speak English at a communicative level, - be motivated, willing to gain knowledge related to SCORA focus areas
