THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES - CAVITE
As for the TUP President Dr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, TUP Cavite will always have a special place in his heart because of a special memory during the search for the new TUP President. A consultative meeting by Dr. Ramos was held at TUPC, it was welcomed by Dr. Myrna Tepora, Campus Director, and Prof. Maria Cecilia N. Reyes, Assistant Director for Academic Affairs, last January 17, 2023.
It was participated by the teaching and non-teaching staff, including the student-leaders from the University Student Government (USG), and The Philippine Artisan - Cavite (TPA-C). The meeting highlighted Dr. Ramos’ first 100 days as the new TUP president, and he discussed his plans and his resolutions for the TUP system. He, then, proceeded to answer a few questions from the participants. Some of the spotlight questions were about the implementation of full face-to-face classes and a hybrid learning system this 2nd semester, and Dr. Ramos answered that CHED already allowed the full implementation of face-to-face learning; but it is up to the colleges
and universities if they could accommodate the enrolled students inside the campus. As for the main campus (TUPM), there are still incomplete classrooms and laboratories for the students, so it will be impossible now to implement it. In spite of that, he confidently said that TUPC would be able to comply with 100-percent face-to-face by having enough facilities for its enrollees. But, before the 2nd-semester enters, TUPC should be able to evaluate if they could manage to have a full transition to faceto-face classes. He suggested that it is preferable to have hybrid learning, especially for campuses with limited classrooms. “An online learning modality for minor subjects, but classes for major subjects, and examinations or assessments of students must be held face-to-face.”, he quoted.
Another question acknowledged by Dr. Ramos, “based on the revised TUP code of 2022, students who are running for Cum Laude honors must not have obtained a grade lower than 2.50 in any subject?”. USG President Mark Chavez spoke on behalf of the graduating students, and asked if it is still possible to run for laude despite
having a grade of 2.75 by referring to the previous student handbook policy. TUP President explained that deliberation of grades will challenge the top management of the campus, but performing students should not settle for achieving the lowest remark neither 2.75 nor 2.50, stating that regardless of the grade will not matter for those students who strive for excellence, and that students should go beyond. In closing, Dr. Ramos as the University president, aims to regularly visit TUP campuses, and attend flag ceremonies at least once a month at TUP Cavite in order to fulfill his duties.

SAME BUT DIFFERENT

This ain't easy like a rough road but I know that I can do it.
The struggles are like parkour, some of the plans were ruined. Most of the decisions are confusing, I just trust that I can make it.
It is hard to overcome this but I know that sky’s the limit.
We are on the same book but different chapters, It is just like the same game, but different levels.
All of us have a common goal but we have different kinds of storms. A storm in the middle of the ocean, but we are on different boats.
Implementation of Mandatory ROTC in the Philippines: NEVER AGAIN!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program (ROTC) in college, is being planned to be added back into the curriculum for three years. The said program received different reactions from the netizens. According to the Officer-in-Charge of the Department of National Defense (DND), Carlito Galvez Jr., the goal of this said curriculum was to nurture the youth—mentally and physically; they specifically dictated that they wanted to foster the character of young ones and their resiliency.
Opposing Mr. Galvez’s feedback, the KABATAAN party list stated that reviving the ROTC program was a weak excuse for everyone. In addition to that, the party list clarified that National Service Training Program (NSTP) can marshal youth without mandatory ROTC because they believe that knowledge of how to survive in disasters was more essential to them.
On January 23, the Mandatory ROTC bills were rushed by the Senate Sub committee, led by Sen. Bato dela Rosa, at the direction of the Malacañang; the youth were not informed about the proceed ings, and they did not invite nor allow any youth representation in the hearing. How disgusting it is, right? Students have made it
quite evident that the education crisis in the Philippines will only become worse under this program. This will also put students’ ability to speak out freely at risk, particularly when discussing societal concerns and issues. If the young generation’s thoughts are suppressed and held in check, solutions will never be found.
Let us not forget that in 2001, UST student Mark Chua was murdered by his fellow cadet officers in the university’s ROTC program after he exposed unethical activities in their unit. By then, ROTC was abolished due to the history of corruption, harassment, and abuses. It is easy to see that MROTC is not a well-considered solution to the issues affecting the youth and education sectors. Besides, it does not take much to see that our society’s militarization
discussed thoroughly for everyone’s knowledge, awareness, and compliance.
Day 2 of the event consisted of team building which was participated by the TUP FSG President and Student Regent Hon. Alter Gonzales, TUP Manila Former USG President Gabriel Dionisio, and the studentleaders of TUP Cavite. The participants were divided into three teams: blue, green, and red, and the designated leaders of the teams were USG Presidents from Cavite, Visayas and Manila respectively. The team of USG-Cavite President Mark Chavez won the LCET Team Building activities. Hon. Gonzales concluded the program with closing remarks.

Some can make it but some will fail, it doesn’t matter because you gave your all.
Maybe it isn’t your time, yet it is normal to fall.
For those who didn’t make it, there’s another chance.
At the end of the day, we are all winners because we're still standing up. All of the hard work that you sacrifice that deserves a clap, don’t stop chasing your dreams, always follow your heart. You can rest if you’re tired, but always remember how you start.
