Saturday 3 July: Music from England and France - The Ionian Singers

7:30pm - 10pm. The Ionian Singers with Timothy Salter (conductor and piano) are joined by Olivia Fraser (oboe) and Jocelyn Coates (soprano) in a programme of French and English music reflecting the passion combined with elegance typical of its period. The English composers include Elgar, Coleridge-Taylor, Vaughan Williams and Maconchy, with French music by Fauré, Debussy, Grovlez and Poulenc. 10am – 3pm. Alongside food stalls, you’ll find body care, clothing, jewellery, design and craft; most are locally produced, ethical and many use environmentally friendly materials, natural and organic ingredients. Market stalls will be positioned outdoors at a safe distance from each other to ensure we can maintain a social distance for all customers and traders. Strict and enhanced hygiene measures are in place with all traders. We also ask that you sanitise your hands at each available stall and only touch produce you intend on buying. 8pm - 9pm, A short illustrated history of the construction of Stradella Road, Winterbrook Road and 1-25 Burbage Road including the relationship between the wealthy Lt. Col Wetherley and the publican/builder George Augustus Young, and some facts about notable residents. About the Speaker: Ian McInnes leads architecture tours for a number of organisations. He is an architect and a former chair of the Twentieth Century Society’s Casework Committee. He lives locally and has a particular interest in both private and social housing from this period.
