Fair Trade Breakfast Thanking Southwark Council Workers SE22 Councillors Dulwich Hill Councillor Maggie Browning

It seems like a long time ago but it was fantastic to attend the Fair Trade Breakfast at the Bread of Life Fair Trade Centre at Christ Church, Barry Road in February. This was to celebrate Fair Trade Fortnight and consisted of a delicious breakfast of fair trade bananas, toast, cereal, coffee and cake. Helen Hayes MP also joined us (see pictures). We are so lucky to have the fantastic Bread of Life centre in Dulwich Hill that sells fair trade products all year round, run by a wonderful team of volunteers.

Social Distancing & Safer Streets

The council are considering a number of options to improve social distancing and to make travel safe and healthy in Southwark. We have already temporarily widened Rye Lane in order to improve social distancing.

Mutual Aid groups

As ward councillors, we have been amazed by the efforts of local residents in creating mutual aid groups to distribute supplies to their neighbours and to provide other forms of support, particularly via food bank donations. Upland Road residents and St Clement’s Church on Friern Road are undertaking weekly donations to Pecan, the food bank on Peckham High Street Thank you to all our residents doing amazing work to support others.
