It is rumored Florence Welch started working on the project

Coldplay It’s a sad day when one of the most influential bands of a generation decides to announce their final project, its even sadder when it is going to come this year. After a public divorce front man Chris Martin has planned a follow up album after a somewhat somber last album that was regarded in the press as their first breakup album. With an eclectic mix of sounds truly unique to their name, Coldplay must have something big planned for this final project, we hope to see it this summer (fingers crossed)

So when actually you’ve come through that process a bit and you can kind of see a clearer picture, you're like, 'Oh now I get it'. It's coming through to that other side now, and it feels good." Either way, after two years off the spotlight, this Grammy nominated artist is coming and back! We can feel this album being her final breakthrough piece so keep an eye out.

All time low

Wolf Alice Wolf Alice had quite the year playing across the world and it is time for them to return with some new music for us. This will be their first album after doing the festival rounds, including playing Reading & Leeds Festival in 2014. But you'll likely be seeing and hearing more of their shoe-scuffing punk before it even drops. A collection of new tracks debuted during their recent tour, old live favorites and two EPs worth of songs are all in the running for Wolf Alice's first full-length release. Band say they've experimented with different sounds on the new debut record and this one includes absolutely no grunge sound.

Madeon At only 20 years young Madeon has had hits like “The City”, “Icarus” and “Finale”. A new artist that has not released much, since 2012 but has worked will esteemed artists in the meantime. Somehow finding time to release two new singles while working with Lady Gaga for her Art-pop album its finally time for his new album. This new work artist takes his unique style and adds upbeat synths and cosmic sounding beats that string together for a new album called “Adventure”. With songs like “pay no mind” ft Passion pit coming out recently this feel good artist is well on his way becoming the next big thing on the indie electric scene.

Kanye west Though his most recent “Claim to Fame” is being Mr. Kim Kardashian, Kanye has come a long way since his “Gold Digger” days. I mean, who would pay $1000+ for an Adidas sweatshirt? Be on the lookout for some new music from Kanye, later on this year. He’s promising it’s his best work yet.

LONG HAIR DON’T CARE

The Man bun. Will it gain its full force? THE BACK STORY The modern, yet primal trend of the year, has gained its full force amongst actors and celebrities. This trend is called The Man Bun (or MUN). Though Muns have taken Hollywood by storm, will it have the same popularity amongst normal guys? Many have different opinions, yet we can’t deny the fact that this style has made itself present on almost every red carpet and major event in the past few months.

Now that we are immersed on the bushy and full beard styles, it also appears to be the time to embrace man buns. It all started with soccer player David Beckham, who four years ago sported the style, while receiving the Imperial British Order. He was daring enough to wear a tux with it, and somehow he pulled it off seamlessly. The man bun used to be a way to provide men with mid-length hair an easy solution to when they are playing sports or any other physical activity, which requires a hair-free face. Initially, it was done for practical purposes, but things have now changed. The Muns invaded this year’s red carpets, and celebrations with artist like Jared Leto, Alex Ebert, and even Joaquin Phoenix. IT TAKES DEDICATION The one problem with the man bun is that it is high-maintenance look, which requires a religious care regimen, and grooming to avoid looking sloppy. That’s why we suggest going at it.

18

with a routine, so that when it reaches its peak point, you’ll be used to maintaining, without being inconvenient THE FUTURE OF MUNS It seems like male aesthetics have changed, and they are now tilting towards a more feminine style while on the other hand, women are trying to aim for a more gender neutral and masculine cuts. Within the upcoming months, expect to see some of your friends, trying this up-and-coming trend.

WHO SAID BEARDS WERE TOO HOT FOR THE SUMMER? The beard has become THE men’s fashion accessory for summer 2015. A wellgrown beard adds not only richness and character to a man’s face, but body and depth to his personality. Unfortunately, not every man can actually grow a thick beard, and only those with a known tendency for facial hair should attempt it. We know how maintaining a proper bushy beard takes time and money, so we have provided you with some essential products that are worth investing, to provide consistency and reliability.

Here is a general tip about the growing process: Usually it takes 4-6 weeks to grow anything resembling an attractive beard. As such, start the lengthy process a few days before going on a long vacation, and spare yourself most of the indignity of going to work during those awkward, intermediate stages of cultivation.

Workout classes aren’t just for ladies, and this gnarly class proves it. If you’re living in a city that offers Surfset Fitness, stop whatever you are doing right now, and sign up for a class.

This fitness class is completed on a fixed-in-place surf machine, cool right? The machine is called a RIPSURFERX, which is a board strapped to metal, and connected to a balance ball to emulate the waters surfaces like you’re actually surfing. In class, you also use resistance-handle bands, which make it seem like you’re paddling in actual water. The creator of this amazing class was a former professional hockey player, who used to surf in his off-season to stay in shape. Mike Hartwick has put his heart and soul into this company. He has brought along personal trainer Sarah Ponn, to make the exact core exercises you would receive while surfing in the ocean. This 45 minute class is guaranteed to entertain you, while getting a great workout. It is fun, interactive, and a good way to work on abs, while having fun. Plus if you’re heading to a beach this summer, you definitely need these moves.

TRAVEL

Austin Texas Memorial Day is one of the most traveled holiday weekends of the year. Hate going to the same beach year after year? Take a look into the 4 most underrated, yet AMAZING cities in the US to travel this holiday, as well as the rest of the summer 01

BEST OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

Hamilton Pool [1] l is a must-see destination, sitting just roughly 30 miles outside of Downtown Austin. Thousands of years ago, the dome of an underground river collapsed. The erosion gave what is known as the best summer hangout spot, to bring a few beers, and relax. Just made sure you have your designated driver ahead of time. The secluded pool is surrounded by cliffs, carved out of limestone and waterfalls cascading around. Be wary though: getting down there is no easy feat, and requires about a half-mile hike downhill. So dress accordingly. 33 D E TA I L S MAY 2 0 1 5

FOOD

DRINK

Punchbowl [2] social is the place to “bring your guys” and grab a drink. A new bar in the northern area of Austin has bowling, ping pong, shuffleboard, darts, billiard AND karaoke. If you get a Bachelors Bowl, you’re not required to be single, but you are required to drink a huge mix of bourbon, blackberry-elderflower liquor, mango black teas, lemon juice and simple syrup. If you gentlemen get the bottom of it good luck surviving the rest of the night. Be sure to have UBER pre-downloaded to your phone for pick up, because the drinks here are guaranteed to give you the night of your life, but a rough morning.

Fast and casual, Hut’s hamburgers [3] won’t cost you much, and will leave you more than satisfied. An Austin favorite rated by every local, this company has been around for quite some time. It opened in 1939, and was a drivein before evolving more into a go-to restaurant. All the food comes from local farms (not surprising with Texas’s cattle industry). What is surprising is for a small local burger joint, they have a diverse menu encompassing bison, chicken breast and of course longhorn beef. They are known throughout Texas for their onion rings, but don’t neglect the pickle chips. (No really try them or you’ll regret it). Everything’s bigger in Texas, so make sure to fill up, and refuel….and maybe even grab a milkshake. Also look for the daily specials since their menu is always changing.

04

FESTIVALS

End your summer with Austin City Limits [4]. This festival is held October 2-4th and 9-11. Pick a weekend, and commit to this once in a lifetime experience. Tickets for all three days will only cost you about $250 dollars,

and around $100 if you want to just go for a day. With performers including Eminem, Pearl Jam, Outkast, Skrillex and Beck last year, this lineup (though unreleased) is assured to not disappoint. Buying tickets early is essential, because this event is sure to sell out quickly.

[5]

As one of the rainiest cities (after Seattle of course), Portland’s weather might not look as interesting as all of us would want to. However, half the time, a rainy morning becomes a beautiful sunshine filled afternoon. Portland has definitely become one of the most rewarding cities to its habitants. From amazing natural parks to mouth watering food offerings Portland is one of those cities that needs to be visited.

01

FOREST PARK [2] As one of the cities with a tree hugging reputation, Portland has a legitimate excuse to protect its trees and vegetation. Right when you are landing on the airport, the scenery is the one of most beautiful you’ll ever see. Amongst Portland’s natural beauties is Forest Park. This Natural ark edges the hills on the west side of the city, just 10 minutes by car from downtown, and overlooks Portland’s main waterway, the Willamette River. This natural getaway, which is the largest wooded urban park in the United States, is filled with more than 70 miles of walking and hiking trails, which can make you feel like you’re alone in a jungle paradise. (forestparkconservancy.org) 02

MICRO BREWS AND SPIRITS Many mistake Portland as Beervana and that is because of the wide arrange of High quality microbreweries and distilleries to offer you the best of the best. Portland has been gifted with 31 breweries that offer a variety of brews for all different tastes. Some of the favorites by the locals and visitors are Bridgeport Brewpub, and MacTarnahan Tap Room who also offer gourmet

burgers and finger foods. However, if you are in the look for something stronger there are options too. Portland also has some of the best micro distilleries in the area. Whether it is Gin or Small batch whiskey there will always be an option for you. Some good ones to try are House Spirits[1] (SE 7th Avenue) and New Deal Distillery (SE 9th Avenue)

BY MARIA BRADY 03

FOOD CART TOUR If there is one reason to visit a new place it is food. In this case this is not just any food. These trucks are nationally recognized food trucks [03] that serve some of the most delicious street food on the West Coast. They are clustered in a few different areas around Portland and if you do your homework and serious planning you can have a small taste of all of them with twenty bucks. A few of the most renowned are Nong’s Khao Man Gai who only serves man gai, which is a Thai chicken and rice dish on stock. Another contender is Tabor, which has become the go-to guys for goulashes, spaetzels and Schnitzelwich. Lastly, there is the Potato Champion, whose only mission is to provide its customers with the best fries of their life. 04

STRIP CLUBS Many Americans don’t know that Portland holds the most per capita strip clubs [4] in the country. We are not quite sure why there is such an abundance of naked and eccentric establishment, but the truth is that it makes for quite a great time. One of the great features about the clubs is that they cater to pretty much every taste, and not only taste in women, we mean taste from food, animal rights to organic and local products only.

Diablo, only serves vegan food and doesn’t allow its dancers to wear real fur, animal skins or leather. Another one to check out is Acropolis Steakhouse, who only serves local produce and meats while enjoying a little bit of Adult entertainment.

Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle [3]

The really authentic Chinese restaurant. Beef brisket hand drawn noodle soup is the specialty of the house. There is a nice balance of taste and texture. The broth is rich in flavor, the beef brisket is tender and flavorful. The noodles are made fresh, and there is a very generous amount of greens to balance out the carbs and proteins.

Ever wondered what it’s like to work in the music industry? Well you’re in luck! We sat down with Chris Akavi. Chris is an Assistant Talent Buyer at a concert promotion and booking agency in Atlanta, Georgia. We’ll be giving you an exclusive look into the ins and outs, as well as the pros and cons of working behind the scenes of music. INTERVIEW BY KELSEY BIDEL-NIYAT

Q: what do you do/what is your job title? A: I am the Assistant Talent Buyer at Bowery South. My job entails producing concerts all across the South-East. Q: why did you select this career path? A: I could never work a typical office job.

I realized early on in college that my real passion was entertainment, and the lifestyle that comes with it. So this was the perfect opportunity for me. Q: What is the coolest part of your job? A: Going to concerts and calling it work I guess? Seeing crowds of people super excited to be at a show, and knowing that you had something to do with bringing all these people together; it’s a great feeling. Q: What is the worst part of your job? A: The long days and the late nights to be honest. Dealing with shitty tour managers and super cocky artists as well. Q: Any newfavorite new music/ artists? A: I would have to say I’ve been listening to Kygo and Thomas Jack a bunch at work these days. James Bay and Saint Motel are another two that I think are going to have big years in 2015.

Q: Do you have any new favorite clothing brands? A: I know this is going to sound a little silly because this is a fashion magazine, but honestly, I love Old Navy. As a guy, you can find so many gems there, and for basically the price of a bag of chips. People will say “Oh man, where did you get that sweater” and I’ll say, “Believe it or not, Old Navy.” Native Youth is another brand that has some great stuff, and Globe makes great jackets. Q: What do you like to do for fun outside of work? A: I discovered that in this industry, you have to learn to balance your time between professional and personal life. Recently, I realized how I refused to do certain things because they were categorized as “girly”. For example, one of my best freinds took me to Bikram the other day, and I loved it! The best part is that I get to be surrounded by plenty of women! I also love to go eat at new places. I am a huge foodie.

Brett Baines

HOMETOWN Barnesville, Geogia

What do you learn in your major? As an actor and performing artist I am always learning how to truly be in moment. My professors really want to embed truth within their students. And how to cultivate that truth and embody a character, while making that character fallible and honest. Just think when you’re watching your favorite show or movie; a perfect character isn’t what draws you in, but rather it’s that the actors seem real and believable, so much so that you have no doubt that it is happening in real time. Humans want to see other real human beings. What kind of outside experience do you have within your field of study? I have done a plethora of student produced films and sitcoms. Which have allowed me to cultivate my craft in a professional setting. Not to mention I have been in shows in national theatre competitions which have allowed me to create some lifelong connections. I am so grateful to have met and gotten great advice from so many dynamic industry professionals. Currently, I am building my brand and securing a stronger internet presence.

What is your dream company? I don’t have a singular dream company, but several companies. The companies will all have a basis in creativity, it is my goal for the companies to make people feel good about themselves where they are in the present as well as promoting a positive future. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In the next five years I would love to be well into my professional acting career. Aside from my acting career, I want to turn myself into a mogul, philanthropist and public speaker. Owning several multimillion dollar companies ranging from hotels, restaurants, fragrances, and fashion. I also want to be able to travel around the world giving back to people, as well as have several charities and college scholarship funds for young artist. I hope that I can change someone’s life, and in the midst of me changing their life, simultaneously they will change mine.

I also just started managing that gym’s digital marketing (Fitness on Broughton). What is your dream company? My dream company is my company. Never have I ever dreamed of working for someone else, instead I’ll build an empire of my own. Where do you see yourself in the next five years? In the next 5 years I see myself continuing what I’m doing today: training to me a model, building up an empire, laughing as much as possible.

The Twenty Year Old Male Virgin: Yes, they still exist

secrets

According to USA Today, 25% of College Students are Virgins. And 1 in 4 of those virgins are males. There are many probable causes for a person to abstain from sex. These reasons may include religious purposes, medical conditions, or simply wanting to wait until marriage. Since media plays a big role in the hookup culture today, one may wonder, what is making some people refrain from engaging in sexual activities. We sat down with Cameron*, a twenty year old, who just recently lost his virginity. Cameron sat uncomfortably in his leather desk chair. Swiveling back and forth, he pulled at the end of his navy polo. "I feel like I'm about to have "the talk" with my parents. I'm actually really scared." As I gave Cameron a reassured look, he started. "I'm actually not a virgin anymore. I lost my virginity 6 months ago." “If I could redo everything, I would have never slept with her. I just felt pressured." Confused as to why he felt pressured, Cameron elaborated, “The guys were always pushing for me to do it. Alex wanted me to lose my V card so badly, he had a slutty girl agree to sleep with me, without me even knowing. I came back from class one day, to find a naked girl, laying in my bed. It was terrible." But why wouldn’t a Twenty year old man, with raging hormones, take advantage of the situation? He stated, I had only met that girl twice. I wanted my first time to mean something. "Well did it?" I asked curiously. He shrugged, and said no. “As I said before, I felt really pressured by my guy friends. I guess I did it more to get them off my back, more than pleasing me. Don't get me wrong, it felt great, but it didn't feel right. I guess I'm always going to regret doing it because I didn't love her. I think I'm going to wait awhile to do it again because in all honestly, I'm not in love with my current girlfriend, I'm afraid of getting someone pregnant, and STD's really scare me. I have too much going for me to get sick." Do you have any jaw-dropping secrets you’re willing to share with the world? Email us with your stories, for a chance to be featured in the magazine.
