Plants Nouveau New Plants. New Markets. New Solutions www.plantsnouveau.com
What is Plants Nouveau and what do we do ?
Plants Nouveau is a new plant introduction and marketing company. We help plant breeders bring their plants to market by helping them through the introduction process. Plants Nouveau is run by two hip and trendy, plant loving women who totally adore plants and garden a lot. We’re not talking about “weekend warriors”, we’re talking about intense gardens and whenever they can be outside, away from their desks, their hands are quite dirty. Co-owners Angela Treadwell-Palmer and Linda Guy work directly with the plant breeders to select plants that are perfect for the consumers in their market. Every breeder and grower they work with is treated like family and that’s how they run their business. It’s all personal and the personal relationships are what have built Plants Nouveau to the well-respected company it is today.
What is new plant introduction ?
At Plants Nouveau, we think of ourselves as architects for better gardens, better minds and a better world. We introduce fantastic NEW plants from around the world that help people get out and play in their gardens. Our plants are bred to make gardening more colorful, less complicated and much more enjoyable. Plants Nouveau's creative and intellectual resources give world-wide recognition to great new plants that solve the needs of today’s consumer. Each new plant is evaluated in multiple, trusted sites to ensure success. Once deemed worthy, our plants are grown by premier growers around the globe.
So, what does that mean ? How does it all work ? We find the plants — or the plants find us We bring the plants to our growers We do extensive trials and evaluations all over North American and beyond We patent the plant to protect the inventor — just like any other invention We use memorable, meaningful names to enhance marketing efforts We develop creative marketing materials that speak to both growers and gardeners. We engage consumers to create demand We talk about the plants — A LOT — online & everywhere we go.
Why don't we sell plants ?
It’s our job to select and market the new plants to the growers. We leave the selling to those who do it best. We license talented, capable growers who grow our plants and then sell them to consumers both online & in garden centers around the world. We will do our best to help you find a source for our plants. Our goal is for everyone to have access and every gardener to benefit from the hard work we do to select plants that are just right for today’s consumers. Think you have the next hot new plant? Call us… Cheers,
Angela & Linda Our Introduction Partners We work with the following plant introduction and breeding companies to ensure our plants (and theirs) are marketed to their greatest potential.

This is one hard working, sexy elephant ear. The first time we saw Black Ripple (formerly known as ‘Puckered Up’) in the trial fields, we were blown away by the number of stems and leaves, the sheen and the amazingly puckered foliage. This is one of the cutest, most attractive colocasias released in a long time. The light plays off of each pucker to make the foliage look a lot like a shiny turtle shell. The habit is rather compact, with many stems, so this one will make a lovely presentation in any retail setting in a one, two or three gallon pot. Landscape Use:

Plant a Gecko in your garden or in a pot for instant color and a superior tropical effect. What do Geckos and Elephant Ears have in common? They both like warm weather, and they are uniquely colored. They can also range in size from very small, to quite large. This series has it all. Red-Eyed Gecko is the third to be introduced into this series with its chartreuse foliage and deep red eye — like the eye of a Gecko. We planted this new selection side-by-side with ‘Looking Glass’ and noticed a huge difference in foliage toughness. The leaves are thicker and more pubescent (or hairier) and they hold up much better in extreme heat and humidity. The blooms are still deep cobalt blue and the foliage is as silver as a baracuda’s skin. Try this plant in your shade garden. In the shade and on warm summer evenings, each leaf looks like a little moon, lighting up the garden. The mature leaves are as big as your head! These are the perfect retail end cap perennial because they look terrific in a one gallon pot and with the number of blooms and the intense colors, they will fly off the shelves and into people’s gardens. Each plant in this series will finish and be in full bloom in less than one year. We know you will be super satisfied with their performance and the fact that they will return year after year, pleasing everyone.

Never, has a true, native cardinal flower been available with such deep, dark foliage and bright red flowers. The combination is stunning! Black Truffle was selected for its nearly black foliage and bushy, upright habit. It’s a hummingbird magnet and so much more. If you’ve ever dreamed of a perennial coleus — this plant is your dream come true. The foliage emerges nearly black with an oil-slick looking sheen to it. As the summer months go on and the heat turns up, the foliage turns shiny maroon and stays that way until the cardinal red flowers appear. The foliage lasts from May to a hard frost and will give you months of enjoyment as the hummingbirds and butterflies frequent it often. Landscape Use:

‘SUMMER MAGIC’ PPAF, PBRAF GARDEN CANDY®
From our partnership with Plants For Europe, we are excited to bring you this new catmint. You won’t attract cats with this selection either. Compared to ‘Walker’s Low’ and ‘Six Hills Giant’, Summer Magic is sturdier, has a thicker bloom and never goes through that ugly mid summer phase. The flowers evoke a feminine, lacy feel from this delicate new selection. But don’t let “delicate” be confused with its ability to grow. Magical Flame ignites and continues to be a strong grower throughout the season. The blooms remain on fire through the season, the last of its brethren to fade into fall.

Fragrance! Yes, sweetly scented, billowy blossoms set the ScentSational™ Series in a category all their own. And, as Inkarhos® they offer a stronger root system, making them tolerant of most soil types. So for many, this will be the first time ever that you’ll be able to grow Rhododendron: Definitely worth the wait! We like to think it’s like buying a plant with an insurance policy: strong roots equal healthier plants in average garden soils.

‘ELSDANCER’
In the fragrance of Tiny Dancer past meets future with a memorable scent. Too long considered a leggy plant for old-fashioned gardens, this lilac has a compact form, making it ideal anywhere hard-working, independent plants are needed. In addition to the cold-hardiness expected from a lilac, Tiny Dancer boasts remarkable heat tolerance, growing and blooming where few lilacs have gone before. Even in Zone 8, violet-purple buds open into lavender flowers, ranking it among the dogwoods and azaleas as a benchmark of spring. Large panicles measure 4 to 5 inches, and the large florets make each cluster appear luxuriously full.

Weeping trees lend an elegant silhouette against the winter landscape with their exposed branches of intricate design. Slow growing, and suitable for smaller garden spaces, the graceful, cascading effect of April Showers will soften your design and provide a season-by-season display of beauty. In spring, buds swell to garlands of pure white flowers. As the flowers fall, dark-green, narrow foliage covers the delicate limbs. And then, as the days of autumn bring crispness to the air, bright, carmine-red fruits hang like tiny apples from its branches. As winter approaches, the elegant silhouette presents itself again.
