01 LIVE, WORK, LOFT

Previously an abandoned warehouse in central downtown of San Jose, this space has been renovated to accommodate a horticulturalist, a pop-up restaurant, and a residential space. The areas where the walls concave in suggest private spaces. A part of the exterior wall left of the entrance has been demolished in order to continue the etched layered glass wall. Its purpose is to bring light into the building and creat a more airy feel.

Physical Study Model

The hybrid model exhibits is the main design for the whole project. First a pattern was etched on 1/8 thick acrylic, laser cut along curves, and then stacked on top of one another. This process was repeated for every wall inside the physical model. It was also tested against light to study how the translucent material would reflect as it passes along the curves.

Illumination Study | Hybrid Model

This study shows how light plays with the shape and material of the model. When looking directly at the model, only the edges are illuminated.

2.1 TOUCH

Touch is a concept project based on three three innovative projects. It addresses society’s dependency on technology as a means of communication. Breaking the boundaries of audio and visual communication, Touch enables users to communicate through physical interaction from different parts of the world.

The parti diagram demonistrates the idea of communicating via touch. Within the model, various textures were used to mimic the varied physical stimuli felt when making contact with another person.

2.2 FLOW

This is the interior of a retail space in Melbourne, Australia called the GPO. My brief was to 3d-model a particular area within the building, 3d-print an installation concept, and then use a render software to communicate my vision.

03 A PUBLIC BAR

This space used to be an office in the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia. Transfomed into an exclusive bar that caters to ten to fifteen people. A Public Bar combines the class of a wine bar with the ambiance of a pub. It uses a continuous design throughout the interior that recedes to give the impression of a separate space. Due to the bar only serving a small amount of people, the geometric design of the ceiling was continued into the seats to come down as one form.
