Final Year Assignment 2022
For my college final year project, I wrote and designed a book dedicated to parents of children with intellectual disabilities. One of parents of children with intellectual disabilities main concerns is regarding their child’s future. They desire their children to develop their fullest potential and to be prepared for the workforce to help them in adulthood.
To develop their child’s best potential, parents should provide facilities and guidance that are in accordance with their children’s interests and talents. The information needed will be delivered through a visual guidebook, considering it’s a convenient media to use together with their child. This book is titled “Lebih dari Sanggup” with the subtitle “Merajut Asa untuk Terus Berkarya”.

The visual element of the design applies a floral concept to reflect how a child’s growth is comparable to taking care of a delicate flower. Each child could blossom and show their own uniqueness and brilliance when you gave them a chance.
The three keywords used for the book’s overall mood are “Encouraging, Caring, and Cheerful”. The graphics in the book content will use lots of floral patterns, illustrations of children with intellectual disabilities, and their parents.
The colors in this book is dominated by purple, since in recent years the color purple has been increasingly associated with disability, symbolizing a new positive narrative about the contribution of disabled people in the workforce and the wider community.

Introduction
Chapter One
There are 5 parts in the book, each of them is separated using a spread with a different floral pattern. The visual assets used on some of the pages will follow the floral pattern (or an exploration of the pattern) matching the part of the book they’re in.
Chapter Two
The photography in this book uses color overlays from the main color palette and added a little grain. The same brush accents used in the illustrations are also added to some of the photos, to make them appear more integrated with the existing illustrations.
As for the illustration, it’s created digitally with a textured brush to give them an organic feel. Using a non-realistic style with some decorative elements using line arts with a thicker brush.

Callythia Tea
Callythia Tea
Branding & Packaging Design
Freelance Commission 2022 category
Callythia is a luxury tea brand based in Indonesia, that shows the colorful experience of Turkish tea culture. Turkish tea is famous for its robust flavors and is an important part of their culture as a valued part of life, which is what Callythia intended to convey. Callythia’s naturally delicious flavors contain health-promoting properties such as their weight loss tea, one of their first launches that they named “Belle Drops”.
For this project, I designed their logo and the packaging for “Belle Drops” their weight loss tea, as well as their thoughtful weight loss chart for the customers to use if needed. Their brand visual identity desired a look of fairytale luxury with a sprinkle of Turkish culture.

The brand requested the logo to depict a warrior galloping on a chariot to describe an adventure to a new horizon. They wanted a combination of Greek and Turkish designs. After several sketches, I landed on a Greek woman warrior to represent the woman behind the brand, standing firmly on a chariot with some Turkish designs on its wheel.
Finally going with the full-length dress I was trying to convey how a woman could still dress modest and elegant yet still appear tough and extremely focused as a warrior.
For the logotype, we decided to use a serif font. Using a serif evokes feelings of history and tradition, something that aligns with the brand personality. also explored the positions of the alphabets to avoid a monotonous tone due to all the classic looks.

The “Belle Drops” packaging is decorated with floral designs that are inspired by famous Turkish floral carpets. The brand requested an illustration of a fairy as a centerpiece of the packaging, thus I added one in a traditional Turkish attire drinking tea gracefully.
The design gives off a fairytale look the brand desired.

Gracia Farm
Gracia Farm
Rebranding Group Internship Project category
The market for premium organic vegetables and fruits is becoming increasingly saturated. With the wide number of competitors both from within and outside Indonesia, creating a brand in this sector can be easily unnoticed. Gracia Farm came with a dream to become an important brand in the premium vegetable and fruit sector.
Therefore, Gracia Farm needs a visual identity that stands out more. The core idea of this branding is “Premium & Friendly”, where the impression is obtained from the use of a logo and packaging with a modern Japanese minimalist design style that prioritizes white spaces. In this group internship project at KYUB DESIGN, although all the interns play a part in every design exploration, I am mainly responsible for designing the packaging as well as their social media.

The “Premium & Friendly” concept aims to make Gracia Farm’s products have a higher selling value. The use of illustrations and light graphics also add visual differentiation between Gracia Farm products without losing the main characteristic of their visual identity.
The mascot for Gracia Farm is an alpaca. The alpaca itself is an animal that often helps with agricultural and plantation activities.
As for the color palette, pale white and doff black is intended to give a premium feel, and on the other hand, the blue and yellow make it also feel friendly.

Gracia Farm’s logo is formed from a Logotype. A depiction of a sprout placed on the letter “ i “ to represent the beginning of life for every plant on earth, also adds an organic and natural impression to the brand.

For the packaging design layout, I explored with the design elements and tried to create a pattern with them for each product’s packaging. The alpaca also appears to interact with the vegetable or fruit in the packaging.

Type Design & Editorial: Booklet College Assignment category
Vernacular typography is a visual writing system and style used in daily life by urban populations by utilizing locally accessible resources and traditions. Every city is essentially an open-air museum or archive of signage and typography. This design emerged from a society that reflects the environment, culture, and history that will continue to evolve over time.
We were asked to find vernacular typographies which are easily found on various signs, promotional boards, and banners as well as on shops and street stalls. Once we decided on the most intriguing one to explore, we try to digitalize it and create a whole alphabet based on it. For this college project, I’ve chosen and designed from a vernacular typeface which then I named the “spiral” typeface.

While strolling around ABC Street in Bandung, I came across a shop called “Wisma Gordyn” which translates to “house of curtains”. Even though they were closed at that time, their swirly typography took my attention away from the others. It’s unique and fun to look at.
The name “spiral” was inspired by the shape of the typeface itself. After all most of the alphabet is decorated with circles and rounded shapes that create an illusion of a spiral.

This typeface has a fun and witty personality, hence the concept of the booklet design is inspired by the hippie or psychedelic era in the 1970s which I think suits it very much.

Jakarta Hampers
Packaging Design Freelance Commission category
For this freelance commission project, Jakarta Hampers requested two designs for their Eid hampers packaging and one for their any-occasion-hamper. With the many hamper business available that we can find on social media right now, they wanted an original design that couldn’t be used by other competitors.
Even though they’re a small business, Jakarta Hampers aimed to be a luxury brand that focuses on showing thoughtfulness through their package yet still be professional with their clients. They understand that packaging design is crucial to not only the product itself, but to the entire company.

Here I explored more graphic elements to interact with the space since the base is wider than the first. I added several silhouettes of a palm tree from the Middle East with leaves that seem to flow fluidly, to balance it with the firm and structured pattern.
For both of the Eid hamper designs, I decided to use the same pattern I made but displayed it in a different layout to make them connected to one another.

Soedirman: Medical Records
Soedirman: Medical Records
Editorial: Book Design College Assignment category
For this final-term project assignment, we were required to create a book containing the design assignments about our chosen Indonesian Hero. I chose the bold and courageous Jenderal Soedirman. Soedirman is a figure respected by his troops in Indonesian history as a hero of the National revolution. He had a huge role during the revolution to seize Indonesia’s independence from the Dutch colonials.
The concept I chose for this book is a Medical Health Record. Soedirman constant visit to Panti Rapih Hospital for treatments and check-ups during the war made it a prominent place for him. He chose to keep striving despite his health issues. Therefore, the chosen concept is also to commemorate Soedirman’s close relationship with Panti Rapih and its workers.

Soedirman’s several personal and famous poems were a gift to the hospital, and another one was for one of the nurses for her kind service.
Those poems were included in some of the pages of this book, to give a personal touch of Soedirman in the book.
The final form of the book resembles a hospital document with Panti Rapih’s hospital logo displayed on the corner. By unwrapping the handmade document string, it reveals the book binding using a stainless-still paper fastener to better showcase the concept.

Remembering the concept of the book, I was inspired by an MRI scan to show the first alternative of this Soedirman Post Modern Era Poster, which was also part of the assignment.
The inspiration for this Post-modern poster was taken from the era of Russian Suprematism and Constructivism such as the ones by Gustav Klutis, El Lissitzky, and Ilja Zdanevich. Russian Suprematism and Constructivism are suitable for Soedirman since they’re centered on war issues.

Another part of this assignment is to make an infographic of Soedirman. I then displayed each slide of the infographics like a type of medical scan.

Festival dan Lomba Seni Siswa Nasional (National Student Art Festival and Competition) or FLS2N, is an annual competition held by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of Indonesia which is attended by students in elementary, junior high, high school, vocational, and special education levels.
For the year 2021, as a freelancer, I got the opportunity to create the grand design and some of their collateral designs of FLS2N 2021: the high school level. The tone of voice for the grand design is fresh, attractive, and playful. These characteristics are intended so 2021 FLS2N could create a different and refreshing atmosphere since Indonesia was still in a pandemic this year. The cheerful, fluid, and creative graphic elements are to reflect the fields of the competition where the young participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible.

Inspired by the previous year’s FLS2N Grand Design and the FLS2N Logotype, the graphic elements for this year are a number of illustrations representing the 10 competition fields.
Formed with illustrations placed in a circle, they’re displayed as more organic and attractive to target youngsters, the high schoolers.
This graphic element takes the basic forms of the FLS2N logotype that’s already provided where there are curves on the edges. Likewise, some visual assets are also given the same treatment on one or both sides.
I designed the visual assets to consist of a few that are based on a whole circle, and the other few that can been divided into half circles, therefore it can be used to explore patterns or combinations of visual assets.

Graphic Assets: Icons
The basic shape of the 10 icons for each competition is inspired by the shape of one of the visual assets that take the basic form of the FLS2N logotype.
The combination of visual assets when arranged will also form a pattern that appears modern and playful.
The use of this organic form is to provide room for creative exploration of patterns, using a variety of existing visual assets.
The 10 competition icons use color choices from the primary color palette in the grand design to maintain color consistency.
