Young children learn through physical tactile experiences, though much of it is also experienced through their imagination. With the particular idea in mind, we sought out to rejuvenate the existing playground whereby putting “play” as the core element that exists in various forms to let both youngsters & grownups alike to explore and interprete the spaces to their own imagination.

“Pupuk”
The deliberate placement of spaces that encourages crossing through one space before another is akin to how one crosses their neighbour’s land before reaching one’s destination. This is done to allow users take detours, experience & communicate with the site.
Citing inspiration from the history of early village settlements along the river of Sungai Melaka and also the similarities of other settlement alike spread across Asia, the proposed design was intended to serve as a rebellious sentiment within the means of architecture design to the increasingly context-insensitive high rise buildings that is brought within Melaka, one of Malaysia’s UNESCO’s listed historic cities in the world. Intergenerational Learning Centre Education | Bintulu, Sarawak
2nd Year, 2nd Semester | Studio Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture Bintulu is a heavily industrialized and rapidly growing district in Sarawak. The site itself is situated at the heart of the city, encompassed together with the oil and gas power plants, the town, and impending future developments. Which begs the question, where does nature belong in this equation? Hence, the proposed design was aimed to emulate a green pocket that functions suitably as a learning centre both the young and old in an undeveloped open space located within its central town.
