Art Director / graphic / textile / product angieburr.com angieburr@mac.com
Prior to my studies at the Designskolen, Kolding, I worked as a graphic designer – for small and large companies and as the owner of my own design business. My experience spans the print and digital spectrum. Through working with well-known brands such as Virgin Inc., Rubbermaid Inc., Quark Inc., as well as numerous boutique agencies in Denver, Colorado and Portland Oregon, I developed a straightforward, clean, colorful and sometimes playful, design style. Similiar design characteristics can be found in my product and textile design work. I am fascinated with adding delight into ordinary, household products, integrating bold colored textiles into interior spaces, and creating individual comfort, both literally and figuratively. My design career has offered me many opportunities to experiment with different formats and materials: two-dimensional print pieces, paintings, digital designs, and three-dimensional pieces in bronze, aluminium, silk and hemp, vinyl and cotton. I have found the most inspiration in aesthetically arresting textures, saturated colors, and the soft quality of textile design. I believe textiles serve many functions. It bears the possibility of combining visual beauty with functional design to tell stories, brighten the mundane and give warmth to the body and the spirit.

Original silt cast design by ItalianAmerican visionary architect Paolo Soleri, known for his commitment to urban planning. He was awarded the Copper Hewitt National Design Award for lifetime achievement in 2006. Arcosanti was created by Soleri in 1970 to explore his “Arcology concept, which combines architecture and ecology. I lived and worked designing and pouring bronze wind bells at Arcosanti for 9 months.

Textile/product design geometric petal wall designs soft, lightweight, interactive designs for the wall PROTOTYPE Each piece has hidden magnets to connect additional pieces together, creating a variety of patterns. These 6 designs were carefully crafted by hand with layers of paper, cotton knit, dye and a little bit of glue (for shine). Sugar and potato starch were added to blended paper pulp to create a lightweight material that is stable and moldable. This design is currently being refined for mass-production.
