Loving mother of Susan Carbeck, Sallie (Doug) Bigelow and Sandie (John) Zittel. Cherished grandma “Gram” of Shawn, Shannon, David, Jackie, Troy, Danny, Kelly, Katie and, Derek. The Brant-Farnham Historical Society has been participating in the Erie County EC200 Bicentennial Passport Challenge since it began on Erie County’s 200th Anniversary date of April 2nd, 2021. At the 18th Annual Brant Summer Festival of 2021, we had the EC200 passport booklets available and many of our visitors were anxious to embark on the adventure of visiting ALL of the participating WNY Historical Museums. Brant Town Park. Only those who completed their booklets by obtaining the stamp of each of the museums, would be able to collect the coin. It is quite the challenge! In July of 2021, we were visited by two ladies from surrounding Erie County – Kate and Karen. These ladies were serious about their historical journey. Kate is active in the Hull Family Home and Farmstead in Lancaster, N.Y. It is the oldest fully restored stone dwelling in Erie County; built in 1810. Both Kate and Karen are re-enactors - in fact Kate shared that: “… we love reenacting! So nice to unplug and gather with others who don't need the constant connection to technology! It's nice to really "live" things at events, instead of watch it on TV/online!” Their love of history was very apparent and they seemed to enjoy searching around the various display areas in our museum room to find the “hidden lantern”. Once found, (and only then) would they be able to obtain the coveted Brant passport stamp. We believe that the Brant Stamp was the 4th stamp in their booklet out of over 30 more to obtain! It was fun to meet them both and we enjoyed their visit immensely. The EC200 Bicentennial will continue its celebration until April of 2022. Middle School Students Now Have A SADD Chapter to Join

The CRC (Citizens for Responsible Choices) and the Middle School are excited to announce Lake Shore’s very first SADD chapter at the Middle School. SADD, the acronym for Students Against Destructive Decisions, is a unique club that allows students to be positive role models in school. Involvement in SADD gives students opportunities to advocate and make their peers aware of health and wellness topics. The program is run by mom and CRC member Krystle Herc, and school social worker Nicole Phillips. “Bringing a SADD chapter here to Lake Shore Middle will bring a lot of awareness to our school on many topics,” says Mrs. Herc. “In April, our topic will be vaping, which is a growing problem. Bringing this awareness to the building could help a child to see or hear the research and facts and think twice about a vaping decision.” “Our group will be student-run,” continues Mrs. Herc, “and we hope to raise awareness in a fun and positive way. Everyone is welcome and we can’t wait to bring some great events to our District, hosted by SADD.” Middle School students can join chapter meetings on Tuesdays, 10th Period (2:30-3:05 pm) in the school’s Old Cafeteria.
