Welcome to the Waitangi Angus 2-Year Bull Sale of 2023

It’s been a year for the record books for a lot of us around the country. We have had record breaking rainfalls making for some challenging conditions, we feel for those badly affected and wish them every encouragement in the recovery process.

This year we will be donating the proceeds of one nominated bull Lot 47 at the sale to The Rural Support Trust in support of the valuable work that they do in our communities.

We are very pleased with the line-up of bulls this year; we think that they as a line are phenotypically consistent demonstrating good functional genetic traits as well as industry high end carcase qualities.

Recently on a cattle trip to the USA the ongoing consumer driven demand for carcase improvement was clearly demonstrated to us not only by a large wholesale distributor in Chicago but also by the staggering growth of the Certified ANGUS Beef quality brand both domestically in the USA and now growing internationally.

With continued pressure about climate change from both local bodies and central government, we as producers are going to need to meet these expectations, we believe that genetics is going to be one way to help achieve this.

Angus Australia is investing significant money and technology to identify these desirable genetic traits and it is good to be associated with these initiatives.
