Assessing the udder evenness

When assessing udder evenness, scorers are assessing the angle of the udder floor, assessed from the side of the female. The trait is assessed within 24-48 hours of calving, when the female is expected to have a full udder. The following pictures highlight the variation seen in udder evenness. The blue line shows the angle of the udder floor, with a distal slope on the left female compared to the level udder floor of the female on the right.
